The city of Budapest is split in two by the river Danube. Before both parts of the city merged, two separate cities developed on either side of the river, Buda on one side, Pest on the other.
The world’s oldest mountain overhead railway can be found in Dresden. It was opened on the 6th of May 1901 and runs between Loschwitz and Oberloschwitz. The cart climbs the elevation gain of 84 meters in only four minutes and 30 seconds.
During our holiday at the Lake Wolfgang we stayed in a small b&b directly on the route of the „Schafbergbahn“. Of course, we had to take the cogwheel railway.
