I am standing in the heart of Utrecht on the Dom Square, and something feels… strange. I look up to the sky and see a gigantic, Gothic tower. Then I turn around and see a beautiful, Gothic cathedral. Fancy a good craft beer in a cosy atmosphere? The Steinbach Bräu in Erlangen offers its own beer, good food and even a small beer museum.
On the way to Bernau we passed through the district of Börnicke. Here, right next to the Börnicke Castle manor house, is the brewery of the Bernauer Brauereigenossenschaft, which brews the excellent Bernauer beer.
In the centre of the old town stands the Torre dei Lamberti – the Tower of Lamberti. At 84 metres, it is the tallest building in Verona and towers over the entire old town.
Not only Pisa has a leaning tower, Bologna even has two leaning towers -Torre Garisenda and Torre Asinelli. Both towers are considered landmarks of the city.
When in Como many visitors go on a trip with the funicular. The ride ends in a little town that is well worth a closer look.
We took the bus for an excursion to the Picos de Europa National Park. If the reports about the area are to be believed, it is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the region. So much for the theory…….

The Hotel Costa Calero is close to the Puerto Calero marina, west of Puerto del Carmen. The neighbouring islands Lobos and Fuerteventura are visible from here.
