The Müller-Thurgau from Weinhof Tangl: a Tyrolean white wine with character
Weinhof Tangl, located in idyllic Tarrenz in the Gurgltal valley at around 800 meters above sea level, has made a name for itself as a producer of high-quality wines. In addition to its focus on Burgundy wines, the farm also offers a Müller-Thurgau that reflects the special characteristics of the Tyrolean terroir in a unique way.
Müller-Thurgau is a white grape variety that was bred in 1882 by Hermann Müller from the Swiss canton of Thurgau. It originated from a cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royale.
The variety is known for its fruity, fresh and often floral aromas, which make it a popular companion for light meals and social occasions. The Müller-Thurgau from Weinhof Tangl is characterized by a fruity freshness. The cool nights and sunny days in Gurgltal give the wine a clear, lively acidity and a fine fruitiness that is typical of the region.
The wine from Weinhof Tangl presents itself in the glass with a bright, clear color and a bouquet reminiscent of green apples, citrus fruits and light floral notes. It is light and fresh on the palate, with a pleasant balance between fruit and acidity. These characteristics make it an ideal wine for the summer.

The Heideboden Weiß from the Jonny Wegleitner winery is a white wine. The winery is located in Apetlon, in the heart of the Seewinkel, a region known for its unique climatic conditions and soils. The proximity to the salt and soda slopes characterize the wines of this region and give them an unmistakable identity.
The term Heideboden refers to a specific location in Burgenland that is known for its fertile, sandy and gravelly soils. These soils, combined with the warm, continental climate and the cooling influences of Lake Neusiedl, create ideal conditions for the cultivation of white wine varieties.
The Heideboden Weiß presents itself as a fruity and elegant white wine. Typical aromas include ripe yellow fruit and citrus notes. It is harmonious on the palate, making the wine fresh and easy to drink. This white wine harmonizes well with light dishes such as salads, fish, seafood or poultry.

Zweigelt – A red wine classic from the Ernst winery in Deutschkreutz
The Zweigelt from Weingut Ernst in Deutschkreutz, one of the best-known wine-growing villages in central Burgenland, is a great representative of the Austrian red wine tradition. The region, also known as “Blaufränkischland”, is famous for its deep soils and climate, which provide ideal conditions for the Zweigelt grape variety. The Ernst winery combines tradition and modernity in this wine and has created a Zweigelt that impresses with its drinking pleasure and quality.
Zweigelt, bred in 1922 by Friedrich Zweigelt as a cross between Blaufränkisch and St. Laurent, is the best-known and most widespread red wine variety in Austria. Jonny Wegleitner – Heideboden Reserve: A Burgenland red wine with depth and elegance
The Heideboden Reserve was the second wine we tasted from the Jonny Wegleitner winery. The Reserve quality stands for a particularly careful selection of the grapes and longer maturation, which gives the wine additional depth and complexity.
The Heideboden Reserve presents itself as a powerful and elegant red wine. In the glass, it has a deep ruby red color with violet reflections. Aromas of dark berries such as blackberries and black cherries unfold on the nose, accompanied by fine roasted aromas that hint at ageing in wooden barrels.
The Heideboden Reserve is an ideal accompaniment to strong dishes. For cheese lovers, it is a wonderful partner to mature hard cheese or spicy blue cheese.
Zirbiner liqueur with Swiss stone pine from Tyrol: a piece of the Alps in a glass
Our tasting concluded with a liqueur. Zirbiner liqueur is an exceptional specialty from Tyrol. It is made from the cones of the Swiss stone pine, which grow in the high mountains above 1500 meters. With an alcohol content of 26% vol., Zirbiner offers a unique taste experience.
The Zirbiner is produced by soaking hand-picked Swiss stone pine cones in high-quality alcohol. This method ensures that the essential oils and aromas of the Swiss stone pine are optimally extracted. The liqueur is then refined with other ingredients. In the glass, the Zirbiner has a reddish-brown hue. Resinous, spicy aromas unfold on the nose, accompanied by a subtle fruitiness.
The Swiss stone pine is also known as the “Queen of the Alps” and represents a piece of Tyrolean culture. It was the perfect end to a great wine tasting at Weinhaus Tyrol in Innsbruck.
