A visit to the Live Escape Room in Berlin – for us a great opportunity to do something together with friends. Here you suddenly get to know your team members in a completely different way and discover unexpected skills.
For the second time, we visited Europe’s largest live escape game theatre in Berlin. This time we wanted to follow in the footsteps of the most famous film WG. Our goal was to master the satirical game “Big Päng”. We wanted to steal a treasure from the flat of Dr. Leonard Leakey Hofstadter and Dr. Dr. Sheldon Lee Cooper. Of course, the highly intelligent residents came up with all kinds of riddles and obstacles to make the burglary not too easy for us.
How do you play an Escape Room game?
For those who have never been to a Live Escape Room before and are wondering what you do there and what it even is – here is some information.
“Escape the Room Games” are adventure games. The aim of the game is to leave a room in which you are trapped. This requires patience, logical thinking, perseverance and skill.
First of all, before the start of the one-hour game, you get some hints from the game leader. These contain useful information such as:
- Do not climb on the furniture!
- Leave the furniture where it is!
- The game is monitored by a monitor. If you need help, please make yourselves known.
- Try to work together!
- After one hour you should have solved the puzzle. If you finish before then, great! Then you can get out of the room before then.
A little back story is also told, because that’s the only way to know what the actual goal of the action is. Big Päng” is about stealing a comic book from the flat.
Let’s play in the Live Escape Room!
Yes, and then you stand in front of the room. You say “Good luck!” and the door opens.
We enter a dark room, the door closes and from now on the game time starts. If you are hoping to get tips on the game from us, I have to disappoint you. Nothing will be revealed here, because otherwise the game is no fun!
However, I clearly noticed a difference from how we played in the first Sherlock Holmes game. This time we already knew more precisely what to look for. We didn’t stand there completely clueless, but as soon as we could see something, we looked for clues in small groups and alone and collected them at a central point. Of course, some suspected clues were not clues at all, but others turned out to be very useful for the course of the game. In this game, our teamwork worked right from the start and everyone was able to play to and use their strengths.
So we shimmied from one puzzle piece to the next. At two points, the game master took pity on us and gave us a little hint. And then, with over 11 minutes left on the clock, we had the coveted comic in our hands! Done!!!!
We had another great time at Escape Berlin and are sure that it was not our last visit to an Escape Room.
