Reeperbahn – Olivias Show Club

No matter how short the trip to Hamburg is, a stroll on the Reeperbahn, Hamburg most popular area for amusements of different kinds, is a must. We agreed in advance that we didn’t want to hop from club to club but stay put in Olivias Show Club.

In a backyard of the Reeperbahn is Olivias Show Club, one of the last cabarets with the flair of the St. Pauli’s golden era. The bouncer looked us deep in the eyes to check whether we were sober. Yes, we were, so we were allowed in. It would be too much to say that we entered the club since we first had to squeeze past a lot of guest standing around in the entrance to get to the cloakroom where we snatched the last few empty coat hangers.

Tables and chairs were dotted around the main room, all taken of course. Good that we didn’t come here to sit. We hit the dancefloor and the night was ours!

A programme of different entertainers is shown on a little stage to one side of the club. Travesty, comedy and Burlesque can be seen on stage. Local artists like Lilo Wanders, Eve Champagne, Barbie Stupid and Lee Jackson, Andi Steil and Orphelia de Winter perform here. We watched two different shows and I had a lot of fun.

The best bit was that Olivia Jones herself – a very well-known German travesty artist – showed up every now and then and took pictures with the guests.
