A look at our flight booking and the 7:00 AM departure time was the perfect reason for us to take the stress out of the situation. Instead of getting up in the middle of the night, we decided to travel by train from Berlin the day before and spend a night at the Hanover Airport Hotel.
Our choice fell on the Maritim Airport Hotel Hanover. A very good decision, as it turned out. Spending some time at the desk at home in the morning, then taking the train to Hanover Central Station without any time pressure.
Location and Arrival: How do you get to the hotel?
An S-Bahn (commuter train) runs from the central station to Hanover Airport in about 15 minutes. Super comfortable and easy! From the S-Bahn station, you can get directly into the airport building. After a glance out the window, we immediately spotted the Maritim Airport Hotel Hanover on the other side of the street.
The way to the entrance: Normally, there is a covered walkway that connects the terminal directly to the hotel – that is the big advantage of this airport hotel in Hanover. During our visit, this connection was unfortunately closed, so we had to use another door. But don’t worry: this path was also almost completely covered, and we arrived at the hotel entrance with dry feet.
Insider Tip: Why “Park, Sleep & Fly” is almost always worth it
Many travelers underestimate the regular parking fees directly at the airport. If you are arriving by car anyway, the “Park, Sleep & Fly” package at the Maritim Airport Hotel Hanover often pays off.
The highlight: You book an overnight stay before your departure, and parking for a specific travel duration is included in the package price. The advantage: You park safely in the hotel’s underground garage, take the elevator up, sleep soundly, and walk over to check-in in the morning. It couldn’t be more stress-free.

First Impression: Lobby and Check-in
Admittedly, we hadn’t expected such an imposing lobby at an airport. The Maritim welcomes its guests in a modern, very stylish atmosphere.

The reception desk almost “disappears” and was only visible at second glance. This was probably because there was a lot going on when we arrived: numerous high tables, a buffet, and guests from a conference room filled the hall with life.
Our check-in went quickly and smoothly. We took the glass elevator up to the second floor and walked down a long corridor to our room.

The Rooms: Peace and quiet despite aircraft noise?
The hotel is huge. It offers a total of 527 non-smoking rooms and suites. Our biggest concern with a hotel right on the tarmac was, of course, the noise level.
The good news: A key feature of all rooms in the Hanover Airport Hotel is the extremely effective soundproofing. Even though the hotel is located right next to the terminals, we heard absolutely nothing of the flight operations in our room. We slept excellently, even if the alarm clock rang very early.
Room Amenities
No matter which category you book, the standard includes:
- Comfortable box-spring beds with innerspring mattresses.
- A spacious, bright workspace.
- Flat-screen TV, free Wi-Fi, and a laptop safe (15.4 inches).
- Bathroom.
The Room Categories at a Glance
Classic Category (Our Room): We stayed in a Classic Room (floors 1 to 4). At 27 sqm, it is pleasantly large, and instead of a minibar, there is a small mini-fridge that you can stock yourself.

Family Rooms
For parents with children, there are also 27 sqm rooms that offer a comfortable extra bed next to the double bed (max. 2 adults, 2 children). Alternatively, there are rooms with connecting doors.
Superior Rooms (5th Floor)
Those who want more service book the Superior category. The room size remains the same (27 sqm), but you enjoy the exclusive status of the 5th floor, including a capsule coffee machine, a stocked minibar, and a bathrobe.
Suites for Luxury Standards
Those with higher expectations have three options (all on the 5th floor):
- Junior Suite (44 sqm): Lake view, separate living/sleeping area.
- Master Suite (72 sqm): Airport view (great for planespotters!), marble bathroom, and guest toilet.
- Presidential Suite (116 sqm): Pure luxury with a large living area.
Culinary: Breakfast as early as 1:30 AM?
The topic of food is often a problem with early flights. Not here. The Maritim Airport Hotel Hanover has adapted perfectly to the needs of air travelers.
The “Early Fly Snack” (Our Highlight)
Since we had to be at the gate well before 6:00 AM, we couldn’t use the regular buffet. But: For travelers like us, the “Early Fly Snack” is available starting at 1:30 AM. In addition to coffee, tea, and water, there were ready-made sandwiches, fruit, and granola bars available. A great service that provided us with the first coffee of the day and a snack before security check.

Restaurant Rôtisserie (The Regular Breakfast)
Those flying later can enjoy the large buffet.
- Breakfast times (Mon-Fri): 6:00 AM – 10:00 AM
- Breakfast times (Sat, Sun, Holidays): 6:30 AM – 10:30 AM
- Cost: Breakfast can be booked for €23.00 per person/day.
Dinner & Bar
For dinner, there is the Bistro Bottaccio, offering international and regional cuisine. However, we let the evening wind down in the bar:

- Galeriebar (Lobby): During the day for snacks and coffee (10:00 AM – 5:00 PM).
- Hotel Bar (Night Flight): From 5:00 PM until midnight, the perfect meeting place for a nightcap beer before going to sleep.
Wellness Before Departure
A pool at the airport? Yes! The wellness area is open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM. We took the opportunity to swim a few laps before dinner.

- Pool: Included.
- Sauna & Fitness: For a fee, there is a Finnish sauna (80°C), a steam bath (50°C), and a well-equipped fitness room with cardio and strength equipment.
Was it worth arriving earlier?
For anyone with an early departure from Hanover, the Maritim Airport Hotel Hanover is the most stress-free option. No traffic jams in the morning, no time pressure with the train, and thanks to its direct location at the terminal, you can practically fall straight from bed to the check-in counter. The early-bird service, in particular, completely won us over.
