Wolfsburg - the city of cars

Wolfsburg is known worldwide as the headquarters of Volkswagen AG and home to the Autostadt, a unique theme park dedicated to mobility. Visitors can experience the history of the automobile here, discover various car brands such as Audi, Bentley and Lamborghini and even take a test drive.

Getting There

Arrival

By plane
Hannover Airport is the nearest major international airport. It takes about 45 minutes by train to reach it from Wolfsburg.

By train
Wolfsburg has a main railway station with ICE connections. The Berlin-Hanover line runs here, from which the lines to Magdeburg and Braunschweig branch off.

In addition, IC trains, regional express trains and regional trains stop at the station and thus offer very good connections to the region.
In addition, there is a railway station in the Fallersleben district of the city, where only regional trains stop.

By bus
The bus station for the long-distance bus lines is located near the entrance to the Autostadt and is within easy walking distance of the city centre. The city is connected to the Flixbus long-distance bus network.
Buses operated by the Braunschweiger Verkehrsverbund travel to the surrounding region. These depart from the ZOB about 200 metres from the main railway station.

By car
Wolfsburg is located on the A 2 and A 39 motorways. Coming from the north, the B 4 and B 188 federal roads lead towards the city.

By boat
The Mittelland Canal runs through the city. It is possible to moor in Wolfsburg-Fallersleben and at the landing stage opposite the Autostadt.

By bus
There are numerous bus routes in the city, almost all of them meet at the ZOB, the central interchange station, near the main railway station.

By bike
The cycle paths are well developed and at central junctions you can also find indications for long-distance routes. Unfortunately, the signposting of destinations in the city is still quite unsatisfactory.

On foot
The inner city area is almost completely signposted as a pedestrian zone.

By boat
One-hour boat tours are offered on the Mittelland Canal, starting in front of the Autostadt.
