The municipality of Lalendorf is located in the south of the district of Rostock and geographically forms the center of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. By car
The federal highway 104 runs between Güstrow and Teterow through the municipality of Lalendorf.
The federal highway 19, which connects Rostock with Berlin, runs through the west of the municipality.
By train
The Rostock-Neustrelitz and Güstrow-Neubrandenburg railroad lines cross at Lalendorf station. The RE 4 from Lübeck to Stettin also stops here.
