Chilly temperatures, cold and wet weather, frozen to the bone after a long winter walk on Usedom or simply in the mood for a relaxing break? Then a visit to a day spa on Usedom is the perfect choice.
Many hotels offer their guests wellness and spa facilities, which can also be visited by non-hotel guests. However, the day spa offer on Usedom must be booked in advance with the respective provider. Even if you want to enjoy wellness treatments, it is essential to book in advance!
Das Ahlbeck Hotel & Spa – Exclusive wellness moments
The spa at “Das Ahlbeck Hotel & Spa” offers its visitors an oasis of calm and regeneration. We took advantage of the day spa offer here and spent a few relaxing hours.
The spa area extends over two areas. First, you enter the family area, which is directly adjacent to the entrance to the wellness area. There is a fairly large indoor pool (20 m) here. This is popular with families.
Adjacent to this is an area with a few smaller saunas. While we were sitting in one of the saunas here, I have to admit that I couldn’t really relax. The area forms a passageway to the second spa area, was relatively dark and didn’t particularly appeal to me.
Spa de luxe area
So, without further ado, we went to the SPA de luxe area.
This can be reached via a short path in the outdoor area. There is a Finnish sauna here and a steel staircase (be careful, it’s really slippery in wet weather!) leads to the beautiful new spa area.
The small outdoor pool (infinity pool) is definitely a highlight. The water steamed in the cool winter air and almost magically attracted us. We were greeted by warm water and from the edge of the pool we could look out over the Ahlbeck promenade and the Baltic Sea. It was strange – while we enjoyed the warmth of the water with only our heads sticking out, holidaymakers walked along the promenade wrapped up in thick layers. That’s how you can enjoy winter on Usedom!
When our heads finally got too cold, we were drawn to the new sauna area. What a difference from the first sauna! Bright, friendly and generously sized – I could really relax here now!
I then experienced my personal highlight after the sauna: a rainforest shower with 3 different areas and additional sound and light effects. From the twittering of birds, it went into the “thunderstorm area” with twitching lightning and rolling thunder and ended at a waterfall. I hope I didn’t disturb any other guests, but I simply had to try out this shower quite often…
The spa’s relaxation room is also very nice. The loungers are a good distance apart. I don’t like it when you almost feel like you’re lying on your neighbor’s lounger. Everyone has enough space here.
What else is on offer?
The day spa at “Das Ahlbeck Hotel & Spa” offers facial and body treatments, massages and private spa treatments by appointment. The clam massage, which is performed with large clams, is certainly something special.

Strandhotel Ostseeblick – luxury and relaxation combined in the MEERness Spa
The Strandhotel Ostseeblick in Heringsdorf on Usedom offers its guests an exclusive day spa experience on Usedom. This is also characterized by its fantastic location directly on the beach promenade and the magnificent view of the Baltic Sea.
The MEERness Spa concept combines many elements that can be found on the island of Usedom. Honey from the island’s bees, sea buckthorn, iodine brine from Heringsdorf and healing chalk from the island of Rügen are used in the spa. The spa offers a variety of beauty and wellness treatments, such as massages, facials and body treatments using these products.
Our day spa visit to the Strandhotel Ostseeblick began with a vitamin booster. Just the thing for the cold season, we enjoyed a sea buckthorn and ginger shot in the tea lounge with a crackling fireplace and got in the mood for lots of rest and relaxation.
We then went on a discovery tour through the wellness area in cozy bathrobes. However, we didn’t get very far. We were almost magically drawn to one of the inviting saunas and our discovery tour had to wait a while. Pleasant warmth – pure relaxation – time out for body and soul! What more could you want?
Pure relaxation
My tip: A visit to the MEERness sauna with inhalation of Heringsdorf iodine brine. A wonderful way to relax, especially for respiratory tracts that are often so stressed in winter!
The Saunaplaza has two Finnish saunas, a bio-sauna with sound and fragrance, a MEERness sauna, a steam bath and an infrared cabin.
After our sauna session, we were drawn to one of the relaxation rooms. In addition to the “normal” loungers that you often find, we were also offered hanging loungers. It almost feels like the gentle rocking of the Baltic Sea waves when you lie there and look out to sea.
We really liked the spacious pool area. Floor-to-ceiling windows almost at the edge of the pool provide a fantastic view of the Baltic Sea. If you go up the stairs next to the pool, you will find a small relaxation room with access to the terrace. Despite the rather icy temperatures, we absolutely had to enjoy the view out there. Much to my delight, several flocks of wild geese flew over us.
An enjoyable finale
A wonderful time often comes to an end far too quickly. So how about a meal in the restaurant as the grand finale? The Bernstein restaurant in the Strandhotel Ostseeblick can be visited by appointment. It offers creative modern cuisine with regional products and good wine. The menus put together harmoniously by the chef are particularly popular. If you just fancy a drink, the hotel’s beach lounge is sure to have something to round off the day in a relaxed atmosphere.
