Factory Hotel Münster

I look at the slogan on the website of the Factory Hotel in Münster: “Simply a good time in Münster” and am curious to see whether the hotel can keep its promise.

The Factory Hotel is not really centrally located. But there are buses from the train station almost to the front door (2 minutes’ walk) and if you walk through the old town, as we did, you only need a good 45 minutes and get a first impression of the city.

Location of the hotel

The Factory Hotel is located on the site of the former Germania brewery. Germania beer used to be brewed here.
In 1963, the family business merged with Dortmunder Union and finally closed its production facility in the early 1980s.

In the following years, the site was used in very different ways, for example as a thermal spa, and some of it stood empty for quite a long time.
Finally, it was decided to give the site a new character. The listed main building of the brewery was preserved and in 2008 the Factory Hotel moved in. Where beer was once brewed, there is now a restaurant. Today’s reception area used to be the changing area of the spa. For me, a very interesting utilisation concept.
In addition, shopping facilities, restaurants and flats have been built on the Germania Campus. A trendy place to live and work.

Factory Hotel – our impression

Arriving at the hotel (it was 10am), it was clear that we could not yet move into our room. Check-in here is only from 4 pm! But we could leave our suitcase there and also use our rental bikes right away. We got brand new bikes – all one size fits all, but with adjustable saddles and a basket on the carrier. So the ideal means of transport for the bicycle city of Münster.

Hoteleingang Factory Hotel

In the evening we arrived again at the hotel and could move into our room.
The room was on the 3 ½ floor and was easily accessible by lift. Later I discovered that all the rooms are on so-called mezzanine floors and that there are meeting and event rooms on the main floors.

Factory Hotel Gang

A door leads – well covered – between 2 building complexes to the corridor with the rooms.
The hotel has 144 rooms (standard room 28 m², suite with 56 m2). We stayed in a standard room at the end of the corridor.

Hotelzimmer Factory Hotel

A bright and friendly room with balcony and bathroom awaited us. The large bed was just right for us, we slept like a dream. I was especially happy about the beanbag chair, which is in the room instead of an armchair. I love to sit in it, at home I sometimes even fall asleep in it. The advantage here is that you can take the beanbag out onto the balcony and make yourself comfortable there.

Frühstücksterrasse Factory Hotel

In the morning, a great breakfast buffet awaited us. Since the weather cooperated, we were able to sit on the beautiful terrace directly on the man-made lake. Coffee is brought to the table. Especially nice for late risers, on Sunday you can have breakfast until 1pm (check-out at the hotel 12pm!). In any case, the day started very relaxed for us.

For us, it is clear that despite the approximately 2 km to the old town of Münster, the hotel is ideal for a visit to the city. Stylish, uncomplicated and modern – we felt very comfortable.

Oh yes, and the people responsible for the website really chose the slogan right!
