On the edge of the historic old town of Soest lies the Hotel Susato. It is the perfect starting point for business travelers, conference guests, and vacationers who want to explore the old Hanseatic city of Soest.
The hotel scored points with me for its ideal mix: it offers convenient accessibility while being wonderfully quiet at the same time. The picturesque historic city center with its famous landmarks, such as the imposing Wiesenkirche, the lively market square, and the old ramparts, can be explored quite comfortably with a short walk.
Room Amenities and Active Inclusion
Hotel Susato offers 60 air-conditioned rooms with a total of 120 beds across several floors. There is an elevator that allows for easy accessibility. The furnishings are bright and friendly.
My personal impression: The room where I stayed for one night was on the side facing away from the street. It was pleasantly quiet and offered the perfect atmosphere to wind down after a long day. I would especially like to highlight the bed: it suited my needs perfectly and gave me an exceptionally good night’s sleep.
One aspect that particularly distinguishes this hotel in Soest is the concept of inclusion. As a designated integration hotel, the establishment places great value on active participation. A portion of the rooms is consistently tailored to the special needs of guests with disabilities. For example, three rooms are offered specifically for deaf and visually impaired guests. Another six rooms are completely wheelchair-accessible and barrier-free.

Culinary Arts and Wellness: Starting the Day and Relaxing in the Evening
In the in-house restaurant, fresh, regional, and seasonal cuisine awaits guests, with a strong emphasis on quality.
Personally, I was very happy with the rich breakfast buffet in the morning. The selection was large and fresh, and I found exactly the offerings that suited my taste and made the start of the day thoroughly positive. In fair weather, breakfast can be enjoyed on the large sun terrace. In the evenings, this terrace, as well as the cozy hotel bar and the lounge, invite you to end the day with a relaxing drink.
An honest look at the wellness area: I had read beforehand that the hotel has a sauna and was curious about it. I discovered it in the basement of the building. If I am completely honest, however, the room was very impersonal and rather uninviting for my taste. The actual sauna area is also very small. There is definitely room for improvement here regarding my personal wellness expectations. With a little more attention to detail, significantly more ambiance could be created here.

Hotel Susato is perfectly equipped for business guests and private events. With a large banquet hall and several flexible meeting rooms, the hotel offers ample space for professional events, conferences, or festive banquets for up to 300 people.
The Certified Bicycle Hotel: Special Offers for Cyclists
The region around Soest is a paradise for cyclists, and the hotel has adapted to this perfectly. Hotel Susato is a “Bett+Bike” (Bed+Bike) hotel, inspected and certified by the ADFC (General German Bicycle Club).
As a bicycle-friendly establishment, the hotel is tailored to the needs of cyclists. For example, there is a lockable bicycle garage for storing bikes overnight and a special room for drying wet clothing and equipment. In addition, the hotel offers plenty of free charging stations for e-bikes directly in the bicycle garage.

How to get here
By car
The hotel is conveniently located near the A44 motorway (Kassel – Dortmund). It offers ample parking directly at the hotel, as well as a secure, on-site underground car park. Electric car charging points are available.
By train
Soest railway station is not far from the hotel.
On foot: The walk from the station to the hotel takes about 20 minutes (approx. 1 to 1.5 km).
By bus (route C3): Take bus route C3 (if necessary, change to the C8 at the Hansaplatz bus stop) to the ‘Jakobitor’ stop.
From there, it’s just a three-minute walk along the Dasselwall to the hotel.
By bus (route R49): Take route R49 towards Lohne or Delecke to the ‘Ulrichertor’ stop
From there, walk a short distance to the Ulrichertor, turn right onto ‘Dasselwall’ and after about 200 metres you will reach the hotel on your left.

On site, you’ll find on-site car parks, a coach park and a secure underground car park (€5.00 per 24 hours). There are also designated parking spaces with charging points for electric cars and disabled parking spaces.
