Sayn is a district of Bensdorf and is located just under 12 kilometers from Koblenz. You should definitely plan a day trip to Sayn during a visit to the Romantic Rhine.
Malchow is a small town in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. We made a short stop and took a walk through the small town.
On a 160 meter high slate cone, high above the small town of Braubach on the Romantic Rhine, stands the Marksburg. The hilltop castle from the 12th century is the only medieval castle on the Middle Rhine, which was never completely destroyed.

Old books and libraries have an almost magical attraction for us. In Weimar there is a library that you simply have to see. The Duchess Anna Amalia Library is certainly one of the most beautiful libraries in Germany.

One of the most spectacular views of Koblenz and the Rhine-Moselle region is offered by a ride on the Koblenz cable car up or down from Ehrenbreitstein.
One of the most beautiful bridges in Berlin, I think, is the Oberbaumbrücke, which connects Kreuzberg and Friedrichshain across the Spree.

Koblenz is where the Moselle flows into the Rhine. Here is one of the most visited places in the city, the German Corner in Koblenz with the monumental equestrian statue of the German Emperor Wilhelm I.
Berlin is a green city. This is always noticeable to us when we are looking for a place for a short walk. The Lübars leisure park with the Lübarser Höhe is the ideal place for a short trip.

We arrive a little outside the old town at a large building with a modern entrance. This is where the traditional Deinhardt brewery is located. Good beer and good food at the Weimar Felsenkeller.

On Königin-Elisabeth-Straße in the Westend district of Charlottenburg, a small terraced cemetery lies between the city motorway and some houses. A detour to Luisenfriedhof II is worthwhile if you want to get an insight into Berlin’s burial culture.

Tanja von Spaness and the Brodenbach organization team came up with something very special. We were allowed to experience the Saturday afternoon, divided into different groups the #AbenteuerBrodenbach in the truest sense of the word adventurous. Depending on our interests, we could join one of three groups: Adventure Herbs & Cuisine, Adventure Thunderhole, Adventure Ehrbachklamm.
The Nikolai Quarter is the oldest settlement area in Berlin and is one of the four areas that belong to historic Old Berlin. It is located in the Mitte district.

Our adventure Brodenbach leads us to the Ehrenburg. We drive out of town along a road with switchbacks higher and higher into the Hunsrück and finally arrive at a large parking lot. From here we walk another 400 meters downhill until we reach the Ehrenburg.

From Buch S-Bahn station, it is just a few steps to Buch Castle Park. The small park of about 13 hectares is part of the Natura 2000 area in Buch and invites you to take a walk in any season.
Not far from Weimar is Belvedere Palace, built for Duke Ernst August I, with its beautiful park and orangery with its many exotic plants.

The village of Damerow is located very close to the Brandenburg state border in the municipality of Rollwitz. In the slightly hilly and predominantly agricultural region, the Damerow manor lies between the Pasewalk church forest and the high plateau of the Uckermark.
Crimmitschau is located very close to Zwickau and is a typical industrial town. Mainly textiles were produced here and the nickname “city of 100 chimneys” was more than justified for many years.

The Holy Cross Monastery in Rostock is an important historical site in northern Germany with a long history. Walking along the ramparts, you can discover the site and find some beautiful quiet places for a break.

For me, Zwickau was always linked to the topic of “cars” and so we were also drawn to the August Horch Museum. This automobile museum in Zwickau is located on the European Route of Industrial Culture and depicts the history of automobile manufacturing in the city.

The first skyscraper built in Berlin still stands today and is one of the relics of the industrial era in the city. It was not built in the middle of the city, but stands in Berlin-Tegel. Today, the building is known only by the name Borsigturm.

The composer and musician Robert Schumann was born in Zwickau on June 8, 1810. His reconstructed birthplace, the Robert Schumann House, houses a unique museum.
The different museums on Berlin’s Museum Island often make it difficult to decide which one to visit. The Bode Museum is not only worth a visit from an architectural point of view, the interesting exhibitions with wonderful exhibits particularly captivated me.
One of the greatest German composers, Johann Sebastian Bach, was born in Eisenach. The Bachhaus Eisenach is dedicated to the life and works of Bach, an unforgettable visit between tradition and modernity awaits the visitor.

The Jewish Museum Berlin is the largest Jewish museum in Europe. Having already seen impressive Jewish museums and synagogues in Fürth, Pilsen and Warsaw, I was very excited about the Berlin museum before my visit. A small spoiler is allowed – the visit is worth it!
Again and again I am surprised that it is possible to hike in a big city like Berlin – not between the canyons of houses, but in the green. The Grunewald offers countless interesting routes in different lengths.

Plauen can be discovered wonderfully during a city walk. The distances are not particularly large and there is something to discover at almost every corner.
For visitors to Berlin, sightseeing is usually the main focus, but Berlin has more to offer. Berlin is green, with lots of water and there are great opportunities for hiking. How about a hike on the Havelhöhenweg?
Forchheim is an old royal town in Upper Franconia and is considered the gateway to Franconian Switzerland. Not only the city, but also the surrounding area invites you to explore.
It glitters and flashes in the basement of the Old Synagogue in Erfurt. Here lies the famous Erfurt treasure, consisting of silver and Gothic goldsmith’s pieces that once belonged to the city’s Jewish population.
During our time in Plauen we visited some restaurants, cafes and pubs. Eating in Plauen, everyone will find something for his taste.

The Fürstenbrunner Weg cemetery is located in the Westend district of Berlin. It is two cemeteries that are connected with each other: Luisenfriedhof III and Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Cemetery.
Anyone who comes to Eisenach will deal with Martin Luther here at the latest. In the old town stands the Luther House, where a cultural history museum today recalls Luther’s life.
Cafés, pubs and restaurants in Rostock – we tried out quite a few on a weekend in Rostock. Whether ice cream, hot chocolate, beer or fish sandwiches, the food in Rostock has always tasted good to us.

Plauen has some very beautiful churches, which can be easily visited during a city walk. We were in the Lutherkirche and the Johanniskirche, both of which are within easy walking distance from the old town.
We get off the S-Bahn at Grunewald station and leave the platform where trains arrive and depart every day. The pedestrian underpass brings us not only to the station building, but also to a place that today you can no longer see at first glance what cruel things happened here, the platform 17 at Grunewald station.

From Spandau to Schmöckwitz is almost a “world trip” and so I’m not surprised that the Köpenick district is one of my “white and unknown spots” on the Berlin map. We were there to change that!
In the past, everyone knew Erfurt watercress. Today there is only one professional watercress grower left in the former watercress capital of Germany. But the plant is still popular today.
The hike is just under 6 kilometres long and took us from Hallerndorf to Willersdorf. Of course, not without making stops at breweries or cellars along the way.

Across from the Bode Museum, directly on the S-Bahn bridge, is the modern temporary exhibition building “Pergamonmuseum. The Panorama”, which houses the exhibition “PERGAMON. Masterpieces of the Ancient Metropolis and 360° Panorama by Yadegar Asisi”.
If you walk along the Grosse Allee through Sanssouci Palace Park, you come to the last important Baroque palace complex in Prussia, the Neues Palais in Potsdam. For me, the New Palace with its adjacent buildings is one of the most beautiful buildings in the palace park.
One of Rostock’s most beautiful viewpoint points is St Peter’s Church and is located high up on the church’s distinctive tower. It is worth climbing the steps to the tower and enjoying the view over the city.

Picture this: You walk through a town, not expecting anything unusual. But then suddenly you see him – your favourite cartoon character from your childhood. The one that sent you to bed every night. The one that, in my days, existed twice: One for East Germany and one for West Germany. The Sandman. I am in Erfurt and in the middle of the town centre there he is: the Sandman, on a bench, looking at me. No, I don’t want to go to bed, it is 1 o’clock in the afternoon. One of the oldest private breweries in Saxony can be found in Meißen. The private brewery Schwerter Meißen GmbH not only sells its beer in shops, but also has a brewery that is located in a commercial area.
A relic from GDR times that I had never heard of is the Marx Engels Forum. I went in search of clues and am amazed at what people don’t know.

About 6 kilometres south of Potsdam lies the small village of Caputh. This is where the famous scientist Albert Einstein liked to retreat in the summer months and enjoy the peace and quiet away from the hustle and bustle of the big city.
The Aasee is an artificial reservoir in Münster. It is about 2.3 kilometers long and about 40 hectares in size and also serves as flood protection. Together with the surrounding areas offers visitors an area of 90 hectares the local recreation area of Münster.

The municipality of Aufseß is located in Franconian Switzerland. Here you will find the Aufseß Brewery Trail, which even made it into the Guinness Book of Records in 2001.
Meißen is great to discover on foot. The distances on a city tour are not particularly long and there is a lot to see.
Yes, Berlin also has mountains from which you can enjoy the view over the city. The Drachenberg in Grunewald is a great vantage point over the city.
The Belvedere on the Klausberg is a UNESCO cultural heritage site in the Berlin-Potsdam cultural landscape. It is located in the north-western part of the Sanssousi Park.

The weather is rather gloomy when the SOLAARIS stops at the shore of the Aasee and we leave the ship to visit the open-air museum Mühlenhof Münster. But we were lucky and during our stay the sun appeared from time to time – ideal conditions to explore the grounds.
