A Fantastic Hotel in Cochem: Our Stay at Hotel Hegenbarth’s

If you are looking for a charming hotel in Cochem, you will find it here: The family-run 3-star superior Hotel Hegenbarth’s is situated in a quiet and exposed panoramic hillside location, about 80 meters above the Moselle in the Cond district. We spent 3 wonderful days there.

Quiet location with a view of the Moselle: The Cond district

The Cond district is located on the right side of the Moselle and is somewhat quieter than the lively center on the opposite side of the river. Nestled between the forest, vineyards, and the well-known panoramic walking trail, the hotel offers the perfect retreat for those seeking relaxation and for active vacationers. Right upon arrival, we noticed that the atmosphere here is warm, familiar, and very friendly. A place where we immediately felt at home.

Our room: Modern, cozy, and with a view

We comfortably reached our room on the second floor of the building by elevator. A spacious double room with a balcony and a fantastic view of the Moselle awaited us. It’s a pity that it was still a bit too cold in March to end the evening there with a glass of Moselle wine. The room furnishings are bright, modern, and cozy. We felt very comfortable.

Pure culinary delight: Breakfast and the restaurant “Herbs”

The day begins at Hotel Hegenbarth’s with a large breakfast buffet. Here, too, our expectations were exceeded. The selection was large, and even freshly prepared egg dishes were served at the table upon request.

My tip: You absolutely must try the homemade bread! It is a bit more savory and tasted best to me with fresh butter.

The in-house restaurant Herbs tempts with excellent regional cuisine. The team focuses on fresh, seasonal, and herb-centric dishes. We had a very good meal there one evening. The restaurant is also open to non-hotel guests, and the large sun terrace is practically made for taking a break there after a hike.

Important note: The kitchen usually closes at 8:00 PM, so it is advisable to plan your dinner in good time.

Relaxation in the wellness area

Even those looking for a hotel in Cochem with a relaxation factor will get their money’s worth here. At Hotel Hegenbarth’s, guests have the opportunity to use a wellness area with a sauna, relaxation room, and a fitness studio. Anyone who would like to enjoy a massage or cosmetic treatment can book these for an additional fee.

Activities and sightseeing in the surrounding area

The hotel is an ideal starting point for tours:

  • Hiking: Signposted hiking trails such as the Moselsteig or the Apollo-Weg begin almost right outside the door.
  • Sightseeing: The old town, the famous Cochem Imperial Castle, the Historic Mustard Mill, and the cable car to the Pinnerkreuz are absolute must-sees and are easily accessible from the hotel.

Anyone looking for a quiet and very well-managed hotel in Cochem, away from the direct hustle and bustle of the old town, makes the perfect choice with Hotel Hegenbarth’s. Especially the great view of the Moselle, the fantastic breakfast, and the warm atmosphere make the stay something special. We would love to come back!
