This is the second time we have paid a day visit to the residential city of Merseburg. In the restaurant tip Merseburg we present the restaurants we got to know there.
AZado Steak restaurant
AZado Steak Restaurant is located in the Best Western Merseburg Hotel. Here you can find burgers, steaks and one or two other delicacies on the menu.
We ate burgers and were not disappointed. The bun was crispy and the burger meat was very tasty. I had a burger with duck meat, which tasted really great. In addition, a cool Pils and we could end the day comfortably.

Restaurant “Zum Domherren”
Directly below the Merseburg Cathedral is the restaurant “Zum Domherren”. In good weather you can sit outside here, we chose to sit in the cozy guest room.
The ambience is really beautiful. The grand piano and a tiled stove were the visual highlights for me, but the stylish tables and chairs also fit extremely well in the dining room. The restaurant reminds me a bit of a medieval vault.
The young waitress was very friendly and our small lunch was brought very quickly. We ate the mixed salad with bacon and caramelized goat cheese and the salmon on potato fritters with horseradish foam. It tasted very good.

Restaurant tip in Merseburg: Zur Bauernstube
In the evening we ate in the restaurant “Zur Bauernstube”. From the outside the building looks very simple, but if you come through the door of the restaurant, you find yourself in a rustic furnished farmhouse parlor. I immediately felt at home. I found the small subdivisions into individual restaurant areas particularly nice. This gives the room a very cozy feel. When we were there, there was a lot of activity and all tables were occupied. I think a reservation in advance really makes sense.
I ordered the Merseburger “Schlosspfännchen” with pork medallions chicken breast fillet plus fresh fried mushrooms and croquettes. The meat was very tender and the mushrooms very aromatic – I liked it! Patrick ate roast beef with red cabbage and dumplings. The dumplings were just great and the roast beef almost fell apart on the fork.
The food, the ambience, the service – for us, everything was just right here and we will definitely come again during our next stay in Merseburg.
