If you want to stay overnight in Weißenfels, you will find a beautiful 4-star hotel in a lovingly renovated villa and two adjoining outbuildings. The Parkhotel Güldene Berge was our host for two nights during our visit to the Saale-Unstrut region.
We arrive in Weißenfels in the evening and drive directly to the hotel. The house is easy to reach by car and there is a large free car park behind the house. A small park borders directly on the car park and I am already looking forward to sitting here in the sun for a while the next day.
After a very friendly welcome, we get our room key. We will stay at the Rosenhaus for the next two nights. This is directly across the street.
Spend the night in the Rose House (Rosenhaus)
With our room key, the entrance door to the Rose House also opens. We enter the small entrance area. Here is the “minibar” for all rooms. There is a large refrigerator with cool drinks (for a fee). Tea and coffee can also be prepared here (free of charge). I think it’s good that many hotels are starting to do away with the small electricity-guzzling fridges in the rooms. It is much more energy-efficient to offer a common fridge for all rooms.
Our room on the first floor is situated “to the back”, away from the street and very quiet. We are thrilled when we enter the stylishly furnished large room. We immediately feel at home here. Looking back, the nights were quiet, the bed was great and we woke up wonderfully refreshed in the morning.
The hotel has a total of 33 rooms in different price categories, which are located in the main house, the rose house and the guest house. All rooms have free Wi-Fi.
Parkhotel Güldene Berge – Restaurant
On the first evening, we ended our day in the hotel bar with a regional beer. Just like the restaurant, it is located in the main building of the hotel.
In the morning, a breakfast buffet awaited us in the restaurant. We discovered everything our hearts desire in the morning: good coffee, fruit, rolls, muesli, various cold cuts… You certainly won’t get up hungry here.
The hotel’s restaurant has 100 seats and we had already noticed on our first evening that the occupancy rate was really good. Fortunately, our table was reserved for dinner on the second day and we took a seat in one of the restaurant’s rooms.
The house offers regional and international specialities. I was surprised to discover specialities from Alsace on the menu. The selection of different tarte flambée already sounded quite impressive.
But we opted for the “Parkhotel” schnitzel with baked onion rings, fried egg and French fries and the venison goulash with red cabbage and spaetzle. Both meals were tasty, cooked to perfection and the meat was wonderfully juicy and soft. A great meal, now I can understand why the restaurant is so busy.
We enjoyed our stay at the hotel very much. A beautiful stylish hotel with good cuisine awaits its guests in Weißenfels.
Disclosure:
We were allowed to stay and eat free of charge at the Parkhotel Güldene Berge during our press trip to Merseburg, Weißenfels and Zeitz. Thank you very much! The report is our own opinion and has been written independently.
