Erfurt’s cuisine offers something for every taste. We have visited a wide variety of restaurants in Erfurt and were always delighted with what was on offer.
Goldhelm
At Goldhelm you can taste delicious ice cream as well as tasty cakes. The in-house ice cream parlour is located directly on Krämerbrücke and offers homemade ice cream with very unusual flavours. The price of a scoop of ice cream depends on the ingredients used, but it is worth investing a few cents more to enjoy the ice cream in the crispy, homemade waffle.
For those who prefer to try homemade cake or the tempting drinking chocolate, the café in Kreuzgasse offers the perfect opportunity. I have had the best cake here in a long time!
Restaurants in Erfurt: Gasthaus Feuerkugel
Gasthaus Feuerkugel is located in the picturesque old town and offers a unique culinary experience. On my last visit, I enjoyed the Erfurt black beer meat together with homemade Thuringian dumplings. The meat was particularly tender and literally melted on the fork, while the dumplings with their sauce were simply unbeatable. A truly wonderful regional dish that I highly recommend to everyone.

Jedermann Restaurant
The Jedermann Restaurant is located in Erfurt’s historic old town, not far from the city park. With two dining rooms for 35 guests each and a spacious terrace for up to 60 people, the restaurant offers enough space for cosy evenings in a pleasant atmosphere.
The restaurant serves not only traditional “Thuringian cuisine”, but also international specialities and delicious vegetarian dishes. All dishes are prepared with love.
I went to the restaurant after a visit to the Erfurt Watercress. They had prepared a watercress soup for us, which tasted great. I was surprised, as I had never eaten watercress before, how the special slightly pungent taste of watercress dominated.
A particularly popular dish at Jedermann is the three stuffed Thuringian dumplings (carrot, spinach and mushroom) served with a horseradish and wild garlic sauce. This was accompanied by a salad garnish. I enjoyed the horseradish sauce very much. This is one of the restaurants in Erfurt that is a pleasure to visit.

The café offers a wide selection of cakes and pastries from its own confectionery, as well as a warm cuisine with seasonal dishes. In the morning, you get a hearty breakfast. Vegan, gluten- and lactose-free cakes and biscuits are also offered.

Viba Confiserie-Café Erfurt
The Viba Confiserie-Café Erfurt is not just about delicious chocolate and nougat. On the upper floor there is a café that tempts you with the most heavenly delicacies.
The cakes on offer here were made in the show bakery. There is ice cream, small snacks and of course drinks. I had a Viba Nougat Latte Macciato (with Viba Nougat Liqueur) and it was just good.
