If you think that Italy is only for wine lovers you are mistaken. They do exist, the beer drinkers! I’m quite happy about that because I have to admit that I do not care for wine at all. But give me a tasty beer and the trip will be a good one.
During one of our strolls through the pedestrian area in Como, we walked down some of the smaller streets that were a little less frequented and found something.
A bar! With beer!
From the outside, it’s hardly recognisable as a bar but if you catch a glimpse of the inside through the open door your beer-loving heart will melt.
The shelves are full of countless bottles of beer. And some of them have travelled a long distance. I spotted beers from all sorts of different origins.
The bar sells bottled beer as well as from the tap. We came here on two separate occasions and every time different beers were served. A varying assortment of beers from the keg is served through 6 taps. We really liked that one doesn’t have to order blindly when trying a new beer and then maybe ending up with something one doesn’t like. One gets to taste the beer first.
Or would you have bought this beer without trying it first?
We just had to try it. A green beer, dyed with spinach, now that’s exciting. Verdict after one glass: I like it! The aftertaste was slightly bitter and it went right to the head – but tasty!!!
he staff in the bar is very kind and moderate English skills sufficed to communicate just nicely.
The beers are tapped the English way, with a very small head. Prices are fixed; at the time of our trip, the price for each beer from the tap was 5€. Not exactly cheap but the varying menu was very attractive and I am happy to pay a little bit more for rare and special beers! Oh, and there was outside seating as well. You get your beer at the bar. Please note, the bar does not serve food! If you need a base for the strong beer, you best lay that foundation elsewhere.
Absolutely worth a visit!!!!!
