…to come once again to the view over Verona…

No longer an insider tip, Castell S. Pietro is a free viewpoint high above Verona, which you can also reach by bus.

I want to come back to the issue of views and climbing expensive lookout towers. It’s not that we avoid paid offers, but often they are not really justified in terms of price-performance ratio. Of course there are exceptions, but as I said, it also depends on the location of the place.

I have already described one viewpoint, the Santuario Madonna di Lourdes. The walk up there was strenuous, but the view was well worth it.

We discovered another spot from which you have a beautiful view of the old town of Verona.

If you come from the old town and cross the Ponte Pietra, there is a long, very long staircase on the opposite side of the street that leads up to Castell S. Pietro. It really is a very long staircase and you should be in good shape!

Ideally, you should reach the viewpoint before dusk. On the day we had chosen for our visit, the place was already very busy and you have to make sure you get a good spot. Especially for night shots, you need a tripod and some space.

But here, too, it’s worth climbing the stairs. The view over the city is great and when dusk falls, you can enjoy a glass of prosecco here with your companion.

We especially enjoyed the evening atmosphere. Okay, we were also lucky and had fantastic weather in September with an evening temperature of over 20 degrees. You could sit on the stones a little longer and dream.

Those who wish can also reach the viewpoint by bus.
