Quite wrongly, as there are some wonderful quiet areas here. The island’s nature is beautiful and there is a lot to discover.
The island has truly beautiful beaches, from hidden coves with crystal-clear water to lively beaches that are perfect for various water sports activities. The hinterland offers impressive mountain ranges that are perfect for hiking. For those interested in culture, there are numerous historical sites, including the impressive La Seu Cathedral in Palma and the charming villages with their traditional markets.
Majorca is not just a summer destination; the island has plenty to offer all year round. Spring and fall bring milder temperatures and fewer tourists, ideal for those who want to enjoy the island’s nature and culture in peace. Even in winter, the climate remains mild, making Majorca an attractive destination for visitors looking to escape the cold weather in other parts of Europe.
Majorca vacation – our tips
Our cruise with the AIDAperla began and ended at the port of Palma on Majorca. We took the time on our departure day to get the shuttle into the city to visit the Cathedral of Palma.
An absolute magnet for tourists on Majorca is the Cuevas del Drach, the dragon cave. It is located in Porto Cristo and we liked it a lot.
Majorca is too pretty to only go there for a simple beach holiday. We took a hire car and ventured to Palma to get to see a little more of the island.
The town Cala Ratjada on Majorca has only about 6200 inhabitants. But during the main season this number skyrockets. It feels like there are tourists everywhere.
Hotels in Majorca
The accommodation options on Majorca are diverse and range from luxurious resorts and boutique hotels to cozy vacation apartments and rural fincas. Each region of the island has its own charm, be it the lively capital Palma, the quiet mountain villages or the idyllic coastal towns.
A package holiday to Majorca brought us to Cala Ratjada where we stayed at the Hotel Bella Playa & SPA. We passed on our requirements for the holiday to our tried and tested travel agency “Lisa’s Reiseagentur” and they found something that sounded like it could match what we were looking for.
