The Brouwhotel Parkzicht in Veendam is a family hotel with a long tourist tradition. Just 600 meters from the city center, this 3-star hotel offers a perfect blend of comfort, hospitality and culinary experiences.
Comfortable and modern rooms
The Brouwhotel Parkzicht has 47 modern rooms that offer all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay. Each room is equipped with an LED TV, free Wi-Fi, a telephone and a private bathroom with shower. For added comfort, guests will find air conditioning and a minibar in some rooms.
We spent our night at the hotel in a room in the annex. This was on the third floor and was easily accessible via an elevator. Admittedly, I was a little surprised by the wall design. You rarely see such a large-format photo of a bridal couple as decoration. I would have expected something related to beer – if you’re already in a brewery hotel. We slept very well under the “eyes of the bridal couple”. It was wonderfully quiet, the bed was comfortable and only the alarm clock woke us up in the morning.
A paradise for beer lovers
The Brouwhotel is a paradise for beer lovers. They brew their own beer here, which is sold in a small store and of course in the restaurant.
The brewing kettles are in the restaurant area and, to my surprise, were made of glass. I had previously seen copper kettles or stainless steel kettles. Glass kettles were new to me. At first, I assumed that they were there purely as decoration. However, the brewer assured us that he makes a brew there every Friday and that it’s a great place to watch the brewing process. It was a shame that we were there on a Wednesday evening. I would have loved to see what happens in the kettle.
Beer fans should not miss out on trying one of the different types of Bogdike Craft Beer. Perhaps during dinner or afterwards at the bar?
Grand Café Restaurant “In de Brouwerij”
We started our day with a hearty breakfast in the cozy Grand Café Restaurant “In de Brouwerij”. A rich breakfast buffet is offered here in the morning hours, which left nothing to be desired. The coffee was delicious and there was muesli and fresh fruit. Lovers of hearty breakfasts will also get their money’s worth at this breakfast. I was delighted with the “typical Dutch” chocolate spread and of course enjoyed it too.
If you want to eat here at lunchtime (Monday to Sunday from 11:30 to 15:00), you will find a lunch menu with delicious sandwiches and lunch dishes, for example.
We ate there in the evening (Monday to Sunday from 17:00 to 21:30) and were spoiled for choice from the extensive menu. From regional specialties such as asparagus and game dishes to the famous mussel pots during mussel season, everyone should find something to suit their taste here. I had a burger and once again realized that fries simply taste better in the Netherlands.
A special highlight of the Brouwhotel Parkzicht is the in-house brewery, where we were able to enjoy the home-brewed Bogdike Craft Beer. The beer is a must for beer lovers and perfectly complements the restaurant’s culinary delights.
