The Ramada Encore by Wyndham Muscat Al-Ghubra is strategically located in the center of Muscat. For those arriving from the airport or by car, this is the ideal place to explore the city.
From the outside, the hotel looks like a typical city hotel. It is located directly on a busy street, there are parking spaces in front of the door and in the underground garage (more on this later). A few steps away from the hotel you will find supermarkets, restaurants and small stores. Especially after sunset, when it gets a little cooler, there is a lot going on here.
When you enter the hotel, you find yourself in a modern lobby with a high atrium. What a great view upwards! The lobby is elegantly furnished and offers several seating areas. I really like the clear and quite clean style.
We drive into the underground parking garage
In total, the hotel extends over 9 floors and a two-storey underground garage.
We were allowed to explore it briefly on a short spin in the hotel car. Coming from the side street, you stand in front of 2 huge elevator doors. The elevator doors open with a keycard and you drive the car in.
Admittedly, I would have maneuvered a little, it was quite tight with the SUV. The elevator glides down almost imperceptibly. There are 2 underground parking levels, each with around 25 spaces. The car is well parked there and you can easily reach the hotel lobby with a passenger elevator. The hotel is rightly proud of this parking lot, which is unusual in Muscat.
What kind of rooms does the Ramada Encore Muscat offer?
The Ramada Encore Muscat offers guests a variety of room types, all of which impress with their sophisticated furnishings and modern amenities. Accommodation options range from deluxe rooms to luxurious suites, all stylishly furnished and equipped with free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, flat-screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities.
Rooms with a king-size bed (27 m²) offer plenty of space and also have a closet, making them ideal for longer stays. They have a private bathroom, parquet floors, a seating area, soundproofed walls and a minibar. Unfortunately, in most cases this room type only offers a “view” of the wall of the neighboring building.
Deluxe rooms with king-size bed (29 m²) offer spacious, air-conditioned accommodation with a private bathroom equipped with a walk-in shower and bidet. These rooms feature city/mountain views, parquet floors, a comfortable seating area, soundproofed walls and a minibar. The free WiFi worked well during our stay.
We spent one night in a room in this category. The view over the city illuminated in the dark is simply impressive. I thought the room was very large for a hotel room and we slept very well in the bed. My fear that we would sleep very restlessly due to the traffic on the main road in front of the hotel was completely unfounded. We didn’t hear a thing!
The Executive Suite with king-size bed (40 m²) is also air-conditioned and offers a bedroom, a bathroom with walk-in shower, parquet floors and a seating area with flat-screen TV, soundproofed walls and a minibar. The window offers a view of the nearby mountains.
The Premium King Suite (45 m²) is the most spacious accommodation with a bedroom, a separate living area and a bathroom. They have a seating area with a flat-screen TV, soundproofed walls and a minibar. The view of the mountains and the city make you want to explore the surroundings.
Restaurant Olive
The Olive restaurant serves a rich breakfast buffet every day as well as à la carte dishes for lunch and dinner, ranging from local specialties to international offerings.
We had a very good meal there on our arrival evening. During Ramadan, the restaurant offers a large buffet in the evening to break the fast. The Iftār buffet offered traditional Arabic dishes, for example, as well as Indian and Italian options. The selection of desserts was excellent. That evening, I really regretted that my stomach was already too full after a short time; I would have liked to try more dishes.
After a restful night – we were still full from dinner – we stood in front of a very rich breakfast buffet. For example, there were freshly prepared egg dishes, bread and hummus – we were very satisfied and, above all, full. So the day could start!
Wellness snd sport
The Ramada Encore Muscat offers a number of amenities for those seeking relaxation.
The hotel’s own fitness center is located on the 9th floor of the hotel. It is open throughout the day. Not only hotel guests, but also members can work out here on state-of-the-art equipment. I was very impressed by how well equipped the room was, it was bright, friendly and very clean. It really makes working out fun.
Right next to the fitness room, a door leads to the hotel pool. This is located on a roof terrace and is perfect for relaxing after a sightseeing program in the surrounding area. There are several loungers around the pool and when we were there, some hotel guests enjoyed cooling off in the water.
We felt very comfortable at the Ramada Encore Muscat. The staff were very friendly, helpful and always in a good mood.
