Granada’s variety of restaurants and pubs is impressive. It’s not easy to make a choice, especially if you don’t like to go to the typical tourist restaurants.
We have collected some Granada restaurant tips during our time in Granada, places where we felt comfortable and where we enjoyed the food.
Restaurant La Nuova
On our first afternoon in Granada, we were very hungry and didn’t feel like walking around looking for a restaurant. In a small side street, right in the centre, we came across an area where one restaurant followed the next. A glance at the menu showed that the food on offer was hearty and well priced for the location.
So we were drawn to the rustic dining room in the La Nuova restaurant, which was initially well-filled and quite noisy due to the lunch guests. That changed quickly, as people don’t usually eat here shortly before 4pm.
We chose a mixed tapas platter for 2 – the picture on the menu was just too tempting. Before the food arrived, we were served the usual bread and the potato tortillas typical of the area. The first little hunger was satisfied and when the food was brought, we were amazed. The mixed tapas plate consisted of meat croquettes, meatballs, chicken, potato salad, chips and small very spicy sausages (very similar to a chorizo). The quantity was more than sufficient for us, we honestly didn’t expect so much for this price. The quality of the food was also good, but it could have been a bit spicier. But it’s better to season than to have too many spices in the food.
We definitely enjoyed it!

Granada restaurant tips: Páprika vegan restaurant
On a longer tour through the city, we passed a small restaurant that tempted us with vegan food.
The dining room was cosy and since there are not many tables, you should reserve a table during peak hours. Since the descriptions on the menu didn’t help us much, we just ordered on the off-chance. A method that you should definitely do more often. The food was great! I ate the wrap, which was filled with tofu and vegetables, among other things, and Patrick got a rice dish with vegetables and köfte-like balls. The whole meal was excellently seasoned and the individual components went together very well.
For dinner we could enjoy craft beer from a regional brewery.

Breakfast at the butcher’s shop – unknown Granada restaurant tips
Who doesn’t know them, the big hams hanging from the ceiling in many Spanish shops. In Andalusia, there are butcher’s shops almost everywhere, where the meat is sliced from the leg of ham on the spot. It is quite an art to watch how the often wafer-thin slices are cut.
The fridge in the holiday flat was empty and so we were drawn to one of these very butcher’s shops for breakfast. Before we could even order, our eyes fell on the floor. During the construction of the house, remains of old Granada were discovered. Some of these wall remains are now visible to everyone under the glass floor.
The ham rolls were very good and so huge that we could share one. For us, this is one of the Granada restaurant tips that you don’t usually think about. Here you can get great dishes with this wonderful ham all day long.
Cervecería Rhin Barril II
Actually, we had gone to the Cervecería because we were hoping for a local beer. But there was only the usual Pilsner, which you can get on every corner. Nevertheless, we sat down in the beer garden and took a break.
Then our eyes fell on the next table and this incredible bread: a kind of flatbread topped with ham, cheese and some salad – so huge and rich that the two of us were more than full. Why there were chips to go with this extremely good tasting bread, I don’t know. They weren’t homemade, but they still went well with the beer.

La Bodega De Gran Via in Granada
Right on one of the main streets, I really needed a cake break. Even though the bodega was not a café, there was an offer for coffee and cake outside the door. A glance at the cake display case quickly made it clear that there was chocolate cake and an apple strudel. Both good, simple and suitably priced.
