A holiday in Occitania attracts countless tourists every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The Occitanie region is divided into several smaller departments: Ari\u00e8ge, Aude, Aveyron, Gard, Haute-Garonne, Gers, H\u00e9rault, Lot, Loz\u00e8re, Hautes-Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es, Pyr\u00e9n\u00e9es-Orientales, Tarn and Tarn-et-Garonne. In terms of area, it extends from Aubrac to the Pyrenees on a north-south axis and from the Camargue in the Gard to Gascony on an east-west axis. We are huge fans of the board game of the same name and so we simply had to go. We set off on our excursion on a Saturday morning.<\/p>\n                  <\/div >\n                  \n                  <a href=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/france\/occitania\/carcassonne\/\" class=\"absolute inset-0\">\n                    <span class=\"absolute right-0 bottom-0 inline-block btn btn-pink px-6 py-1 text-xl font-semibold text-white\" >Carcassonne is more than a board game&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">&rarr;<\/span>\n                    <\/span>\n                  <\/a>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel information about Occitania<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-atomic-blocks-ab-accordion ab-block-accordion\"><details><summary class=\"ab-accordion-title\">Arrival<\/summary><div class=\"ab-accordion-text\">\n<p><strong>By plane<\/strong><br>The Occitanie region is easily accessible via nine international airports and one regional airport. The main airports are located near Toulouse and Montpellier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By train<\/strong><br>Occitania is crossed by two high-speed trains. These run from Perpignan to Figueras in Spain and the LGV M\u00e9diterran\u00e9e. Numerous trains operated by the French operator SNCF also connect the region with major French and international cities. These run to the hubs of Toulouse and Montpellier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By bus<\/strong><br>Different long-distance bus lines arrive everywhere in the region. They connect Occitania with numerous national and international destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By car<\/strong><br>The entire area is served by numerous motorway connections. These come and go to all the surrounding regions.<br>The French-Spanish border in the Pyrenees can be crossed in the tunnel of Aragnouet-Bielsa or at the Col du Perthus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By boat<\/strong><br>The port of S\u00e9te connects the south of France with Morocco.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-atomic-blocks-ab-accordion ab-block-accordion\"><details><summary class=\"ab-accordion-title\">Best time to travel<\/summary><div class=\"ab-accordion-text\">\n<p>Among the sunniest cities in France, with over 2100 hours of sunshine a year, are the Occitan cities of Toulouse, Montpellier, N\u00eemes and Perpignan.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-atomic-blocks-ab-accordion ab-block-accordion\"><details><summary class=\"ab-accordion-title\">Language<\/summary><div class=\"ab-accordion-text\">\n<p>In France, French is spoken, of course, but there is also the Occitan language.
