The city&#8217;s merchants sailed their ships to the Danish West Indies and brought the liquid gold of the Caribbean and thus wealth to the city. You can reach Hamburg Airport from Flensburg by public transport in about 2.5 hours (airport bus to Neum\u00fcnster and then regional express).<br>The Danish airports of S\u00f8nderborg (50 kilometres) and Billund (130 kilometres) with regular scheduled flights are somewhat closer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By train<\/strong><br>Regional trains run from Flensburg main station to Kiel, Hamburg and Denmark.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By bus<\/strong><br>Flensburg&#8217;s central bus station is located at the tip of the harbour. Intercity connections to Schleswig, Kiel, Nieb\u00fcll and Denmark depart from there. In addition, some long-distance bus providers offer trips to Flensburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By car<\/strong><br>The A7 motorway runs past the city. In addition, several federal roads lead through Flensburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By boat<\/strong><br>There are numerous moorings in the fjord for pleasure boats.<br>From April to October, a boat runs between Gl\u00fccksburg and Flensburg every two hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By bike<\/strong><br>There are several well-signposted cycle paths in and around Flensburg. For example, the Baltic Coast Cycle Route runs around the Baltic Sea.
