A holiday on the North Sea coast attracts numerous recreation-seekers to the region every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The North Sea Coast region includes the regions of North Frisia and Dithmarschen, the North Frisian Islands and Helgoland. To me, animal protection and rescue is such an effort. Therefore, I was more than curious to learn how a seal rescue centre is run. I don\u2019t remember too much from that trip so it was about time to boost my memory and go on a day trip to the island in the North Sea.<\/p>\n                  <\/div >\n                  \n                  <a href=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/germany\/schleswig-holstein\/north-sea-coast\/heligoland\/\" class=\"absolute inset-0\">\n                    <span class=\"absolute right-0 bottom-0 inline-block btn btn-pink px-6 py-1 text-xl font-semibold text-white\" >A day on Heligoland&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<span style=\"font-size: 16px;\">&rarr;<\/span>\n                    <\/span>\n                  <\/a>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Travel information about the North Sea coast<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-atomic-blocks-ab-accordion ab-block-accordion\"><details><summary class=\"ab-accordion-title\">Arrival<\/summary><div class=\"ab-accordion-text\">\n<p><strong>By plane<\/strong><br>It is possible to travel to Sylt, F\u00f6hr, Amrum or Helgoland by plane.<br>There are several direct connections to Sylt from major German cities, Austria and Switzerland.<br>You can fly to Helgoland from Heide\/B\u00fcsum airport and from Cuxhaven\/Nordholz airport on a charter flight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you would like to stay on the mainland, it is best to travel via the international airport in Hamburg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By train<\/strong><br>The best way to get there by train is via Hamburg. Regional trains run from there to the North Sea coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1927, you can reach Sylt by train via the Hindenburgdamm. ICE trains run several times a day to Westerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By car<\/strong><br>The A 23 and A 7 motorways lead to the North Sea coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can travel to Sylt by car train. The journey from Nieb\u00fcll takes about 40 minutes. Car ferries go to Amrum and F\u00f6hr, to Pellworm and Sylt (from R\u00f6m\u00f6).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cars and bikes are prohibited on Helgoland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>By ferry<\/strong><br>From Dageb\u00fcll, modern ferries take you to the island harbours of Wyk on F\u00f6hr and Wittd\u00fcn on Amrum.
