The easternmost of the East Frisian islands in the North Sea is called Wangerooge. Whether it’s a relaxing short trip or a long, restful island holiday, you can simply feel at home here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Wangerooge is car-free and that is a good thing. A leisurely walk along the beach or a stroll through the town is a wonderful way to relax. The island is a certified North Sea spa. The stimulating climate offers the ideal conditions for a cure or wellness treatments. Thalasso is a major theme here and has sent many a stressed city dweller back to the mainland refreshed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The island lies in the middle of the Wadden Sea. So it is not surprising that the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site plays a central role on the island. During mudflat walks and a visit to the National Park House, you can learn everything about this unique natural landscape here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By plane<\/strong>
The LFH Inselflieger<\/a> air fleet flies from the mainland to the island approximately every hour. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

By car<\/strong>
Wangerooge is car-free. All vehicles must remain on the mainland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By train<\/strong>
The RB59 stops in Esens. A bus runs from there to the ferry terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By ferry<\/strong>
The island can be reached by ferry and island train. The latter takes holidaymakers from the pier to the village.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

On foot<\/strong>
The island is quite small and can be explored very well on foot.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the island railway<\/strong>
The small island train runs from the ferry’s western pier to the island village. The fare is already included in the ferry ticket.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By bike<\/strong>
If you are not travelling on foot on the island, you are welcome to use a bicycle.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Best time to travel<\/summary>

Wangerooge is worth a visit at any time. In summer, the beach and the sea entice you to swim, in autumn the wind blows around your ears as you walk along the beach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peak season is summer. In autumn it is much quieter on the island. In winter, the islanders are mostly on their own.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/details><\/div>\n\n\n
