In the south of Greece, separated from the mainland only by the artificial channel lies the Peloponnese peninsula. This region is one of the most beautiful vacation areas in Greece.

The Peloponnese is a mountainous region. Here there are mountains up to 2,400 meters high and you can even ski in winter. On the coast, the traveler will find numerous beaches and the sea attracts water sports enthusiasts. Whether diving, fishing or boating along the coast, everyone will find something to their liking here.

Mycenaeans, ancient Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Franks, Ottomans, French and English have left their traces in the region. So it is not surprising that the holidaymaker will find numerous archaeological sites that reveal a lot about the history of the region.

The south is the real tourist magnet of the peninsula. The region of Messinia is home to Kalamata, the largest city in the region. The region of Laconia is known for its beaches, which invite you to a relaxing vacation.

Somewhat quieter are the small towns in the mountain ranges, but they offer excellent starting points for hikes.
