For us, a visit to precisely this Christmas market has been a traditional part of the Christmas season for years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/berlin-leuchtet.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/berlin-leuchtet.jpg\" alt=\"Weihnachtsmarkt an der Ged\u00e4chniskirche\" class=\"wp-image-13269\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In general, you should not drive towards City West. Parking spaces are scarce here or really expensive in the multi-storey car parks. We take public transport to the &#8220;Zoo&#8221; and walk the few steps to the Ged\u00e4chniskirche. This not only has the advantage that you can drink a delicious mulled wine, you can also take bus 100 further to Alexanderplatz and thus tackle a Christmas market marathon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/city-weihnachtsmarkt.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/city-weihnachtsmarkt.jpg\" alt=\"Weihnachtsmarkt an der Ged\u00e4chniskirche\" class=\"wp-image-13270\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Around 170 stalls await visitors to the Christmas market at the Ged\u00e4chniskirche. About half of the offerings are culinary. From mulled wine to yeast dumplings, you&#8217;ll find something to suit every taste. The prices are reasonable, but in contrast to smaller Christmas markets in Berlin, they are somewhat higher. There are a lot of tourists here, who sometimes pay 50 cents more.<br>Every year there are some beautiful arts and crafts stalls offering small and large gift ideas, from Christmas tree decorations to goldsmith&#8217;s work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are always small carousels for children, but unlike other Christmas markets, the offer is kept within limits and it doesn&#8217;t degenerate into a Christmas hustle and bustle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/gedaechniskirche.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/gedaechniskirche.jpg\" alt=\"Weihnachtsmarkt an der Ged\u00e4chniskirche\" class=\"wp-image-13271\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The Christmas market is always well attended and you walk from stall to stall. I sometimes find it too crowded, but it still draws me back every year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The elaborate lighting that decorates not only the Christmas market but the entire Kurf\u00fcrstendamm is particularly beautiful. From the end of November, Christmas motifs shine from 4pm to midnight every day. Over 600 trees are decorated with fairy lights and bathe the streets of Kurf\u00fcrstendamm, Tauentzienstra\u00dfe and Uhlandstra\u00dfe, Fasanenstra\u00dfe, Grolmannstra\u00dfe, Kantstra\u00dfe and Reichsstra\u00dfe in a Christmas atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/beleuchteter-baum-ku-damm.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/beleuchteter-baum-ku-damm.jpg\" alt=\"Weihnachtsmarkt an der Ged\u00e4chniskirche - beleuchteter Kudamm\" class=\"wp-image-13268\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>In keeping with this, many shops decorate their shop windows with great gift ideas and turn window shopping into an experience.
