There is so much to discover around Berlin! We were in Kleinmachnow. Here is the New Hakeburg, which we took a closer look at right away.

There was already a castle in Kleinmachnow in the 14th century. At the beginning of the 15th century, the feudal ownership of the Kleinmachnow estate passed to the von Hake family, who also moved into the manor.

Probably the best known von Hake was Hans Christoph Friedrich von Hacke (unfortunately I don’t know why he is spelled with a ck). He was colonel and adjutant general of Frederick William I.. Frederick II made him the first Knight of the Order Pour le Mérite and Commander of Berlin. It was von Hacke who laid out the Hackescher Markt and the Neue Promenade.
