If you would like to visit a museum in Hamm in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Gustav L\u00fcbcke Museum is the place to go. The museum of cultural history is located near the main train station and shows, in addition to its permanent exhibition, always changing temporary exhibitions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
In 1886, some citizens of Hamm founded a mummy association. Shortly before, 50 mummies had been discovered in Deir el-Bahari, Egypt. The members of the association were enthusiastic about the topic “Ancient Egypt” and the mummies. Their wish was to acquire a mummy and exhibit it in Hamm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Funds were collected, contacts were made and finally a mummy from the 22nd\/23rd dynasty was acquired and brought to Hamm. In addition, it was possible to buy a photo album with pictures of other mummies, which are used as a basis for research until today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
