In Rossio, one of the most popular and lively areas of Lisbon, “The Art Inn Lisbon” is located directly in a shopping street. The ideal starting point for exploring the city.

If you take the metro from the airport to Lisbon, it is best to get off at Rossio station to get to the hotel. After about 200 meters of walking, you will find yourself in front of the rather inconspicuous hotel entrance.

Actually, the entrance looks more like the entrance to a restaurant and rooftop bar. A menu is in front of the door and when we arrived there around 6 pm, a young man sat on a bar stool in front of the door and controlled the access. Super friendly, he greeted us and retrieved our room card from the key boxes. The reception of The Art Inn Hotel Lisbon is no longer staffed at this hour and all the information we had already received by mail. So also the tip to install the app of the hotel on the cell phone. With this, access to the room was also possible.

Directly behind the entrance door, a very steep staircase goes into the building. On the second floor there is the possibility to load the luggage into a mini freight elevator (which runs at a snail’s pace). This stops exactly once, on the 4th floor. So for all the residents in a room on the floors in between, not really a help. We had a room on the 5th floor and so our suitcases could go at least part of the way. We, on the other hand, had to climb the countless steep stairs.

Room 501

We had booked a double room at ART INN Hotel Lisboa for 3 nights. The room we entered was a large family room.

"Zimmer

The large double bed with a view out the window was super comfortable and we slept well. The two extra beds were arranged and covered so that you could use them as a sofa or huge storage area.

There is a walk-in closet, a desk, a safe, a TV and, of course, air conditioning in the room.

The bathroom is modern and the water in the shower is super warm.

Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel, and it worked flawlessly in our room. The data transfer was so good that it was possible to stream a basketball game without any problems or jerks.

Breakfast at “The Art Inn Lisbon”

Breakfast is offered in the Rooftop Bar daily from 7:30am. My first thought – that can be fresh in the morning when you sit outside. But one has taken precautions.

Some of the tables are located in a glazed area that can be closed depending on the weather. Other tables are located on the roof terrace. Here there is the possibility of roofing with awnings and the side walls can also be closed. Additionally, I have seen radiant heaters, but they were not needed at the beginning of November.

The offer on the breakfast buffet is continental. From scrambled eggs with bacon to muesli, we found everything we liked. Also “sweets”, like the famous Lisbon pudding tarts (Pasteis de Nata) were on offer every morning.

The coffee was strong and good, the day could begin.

The Rooftop Bar on the Roof Terrace

One should not miss to enjoy the view from the roof terrace. From there you can see the Castello Sao Jorges and the famous elevator Elevador de Santa Justa. Surely this great view is also a reason why in the evening hours a popular rooftop bar can be found here.

"Ausblick

This means for the hotel guest: the stairs are used by the bar visitors and of course they pass by the rooms. The music can be heard from the terrace throughout the house. My big concern that we would be bothered with music and loud guests all night was completely unfounded, however. Punctually at 22:30 the music stopped and the guests left the hotel.

"Dachterrasse"

For us as guests, the Rooftop Bar is of course the ideal way to enjoy a drink to end the day.
