This is always noticeable to us when we are looking for a place for a short walk. The L\u00fcbars leisure park with the L\u00fcbarser H\u00f6he is the ideal place for a short trip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>It was drizzling and the sky was grey. Nevertheless, we were drawn to the fresh air and the L\u00fcbars recreational park in Reinickendorf. Here in the district of L\u00fcbars, in the immediate vicinity of the large housing estate M\u00e4rkisches Viertel, is one of Berlin&#8217;s many recreational areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/freizeitpark-luebars-regenspaziergang-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Regenspazergang Freizeitpark L\u00fcbars\" class=\"wp-image-27207\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Emergence of the leisure park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Anyone driving through the densely built-up M\u00e4rkisches Viertel district will realise that a counterpoint urgently needed to be created here to help improve the quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/freizeitpark-luebars-ausblick-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Blick zum M\u00e4rkischen Viertel\" class=\"wp-image-27205\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In 1975, therefore, the L\u00fcbars leisure park began to be created in the immediate vicinity. Previously, the area had been used as a landfill site. This was closed and the area was gradually transformed into a park. Topsoil was applied and trees and bushes were planted. The site was completed in 1993. Today, the only reminder of the landfill is the occasional vent pipe sticking out of the ground. If you ask the &#8220;natives&#8221; around the recreation park, you will still hear &#8220;We go to the rubbish dump&#8221;, even though you can hardly see anything of it today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The result is a 39.6 ha park with an 85.3 metre high artificial hill. At the highest point of the &#8220;L\u00fcbarser H\u00f6he&#8221; is a natural stone circle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/freizeitpark-luebars-bergspitze-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"L\u00fcbarser H\u00f6he\" class=\"wp-image-27206\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What can you do in the L\u00fcbars leisure park?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The entire area is criss-crossed with signposted hiking and cycling trails. There are even bridle paths that are popular with the nearby equestrian farms. The hiking trails connect L\u00fcbars Leisure Park with Blankenfelde and the surrounding Brandenburg countryside. We had a wonderful walk around the small mountain here despite the rain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/freizeitpark-luebars-luebarser-hoehe-hinweis-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Freizeitpark L\u00fcbars Hinweisschil\" class=\"wp-image-27201\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>In winter, the L\u00fcbarser H\u00f6he offers a toboggan run about 300 metres long. Here you will also find a large sunbathing lawn and barbecue areas. Yes, and if you walk up the path to the top of the hill, you can enjoy a great view.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/freizeitpark-luebars-rodelberg-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Freizeitpark L\u00fcbars Rodelberg\" class=\"wp-image-27200\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A little tip for autumn: the meadows in L\u00fcbars Leisure Park are perfect for flying kites.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is an adventure playground at the edge of the park. Here the children will find numerous slides, climbing opportunities and also water. This makes a day at the playground fun! For skaters, there is a half pipe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Old pheasantry on the edge of the park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Around 1740, King Frederick II had a pheasantry built on the L\u00fcbarser Feldmark for his Rosenthal estate. Over time, a small settlement developed. Around 1843, the pheasantry was abandoned and the area was used for agriculture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/freizeitpark-luebars-jungendfarm-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"ehemalige Jugendfarm L\u00fcbars\" class=\"wp-image-27203\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>From 1966-1977, two pig farms were located on the grounds of the Alte Fasanerie until 1978, when the Reinickendorf district authority took over the grounds and founded a youth farm.<br>A farm was created on which children and young people were to be shown rural life in the city of Berlin (West), which at that time was separated from the surrounding countryside. For this purpose, a characteristic farmstead with residential and farm buildings was built around a rectangular courtyard, just as a typical farm in the Mark Brandenburg originally looked. Numerous school classes and kindergarten groups used the excursion destination in the mornings and families came at weekends and in the afternoons. Numerous programmes were offered, from baking bread to handicrafts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/vonortzuort.reisen\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/freizeitpark-luebars-infotafeln-1024x683.jpeg\" alt=\"Infotafeln f\u00fcr Programm\" class=\"wp-image-27204\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1996, the youth farm has been run by private sponsors under the name &#8220;Alte Fasanerie&#8221;. Programmes for young and old are still organised here, dealing with the theme of nature and social interaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We went to the farm and had a look around. Unfortunately, many animals had to leave the farm for economic reasons and so there are only a few stables left to visit.
