Good beer is drunk and brewed in Granada. We have discovered some regional craft beers in Granada.

Beer from the region

We discovered some of the craft beers from Granada while shopping in smaller shops, others we picked up from restaurants or pubs. The selection of good beers was simply fantastic.

SEDUCTIVE a beer from the SEGRAL BREWING brewery

The SEGRAL BREWING brewery is located in Almuñécar near Granada. The brewery can be visited, offers tastings and also sells its beer directly on site.

SEDUCTIVE is a tropical stout. It smells of roasted and caramelised malt, with a hint of coffee and cocoa. The caramel malt gives the beer a beautiful dark colour. You don’t notice the 6.5% alcohol content when you drink it, the stout just sips away. The roasted flavour was a little too dominant for me.

Cerveza Al-Andalus Rubia

The pale ale is produced in the Ribera del Andarax, more precisely in Huercal de Almería. The craft beer has an alcohol content of 4.5%. Visually, it is a beer with a dense, elegant, blonde head and a reddish colour.

It is hardly bitter, tastes rather soft and flatters the palate. I really enjoyed the beer. It was refreshing and light, ideal for the warmer months of the year.

Irish Red

The Granada Beer Company has created Irish Red according to recipes that date back to Ireland in the early 18th century. They used roasted caramel-flavoured malt, which also gives the beer its beautiful red colour.

The Irish Red tastes slightly fruity and intensely of caramel / toffee. The alcohol content is 5%.

Cream Ale

My favourite craft beer in Granada was the cream ale from the Granada Beer Company. This type of beer originated in the USA in the 19th century and the brewery has tried to recreate it as faithfully as possible.

It shines brightly in the glass with a beautiful head. It tastes refreshing and mild. A great summer beer with an alcohol content of 4.5%.

Mahou Session IPA

Mahou Session IPA is milder and less bitter than conventional IPA beers. The alcohol content is 4.5%.

The beer comes from a large Spanish brewery that has bottling plants worldwide and produces numerous beers. Even though many beers from large producers are aimed at the broad market and therefore often have a “one-size-fits-all” flavour, I found this beer to be quite tasty and very drinkable.

Drinking beer in the Páprika restaurant

On a longer tour through the city, we passed a small restaurant that tempted us with vegan food and regional beer.

The dining room was cosy and as there aren’t many tables, you should book a table at peak times. We can really recommend the vegan food. It was tasty, well flavoured and plentiful. We drank craft beer from a regional brewery with our meal.

La Gavach – Goma 3

A pale ale-style beer with a sweet malt flavour and a slight taste of honey. The three major hop varieties Mosaïc, Amarillo and Nugget develop tropical fruit flavours both on the nose and in the mouth. The beer has an alcohol content of 5.3%.
