We learned that it was worth it, and the archeitecture was gorgeous. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>We walked from the Main Street in Sinatra about 15 minutes, and we came to the back entrance to a place where we thought only fairy tales happened. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/04\/titelbild-qinta-da-regaleira.jpg\" alt=\"Quinta da Regaleira\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Quinta da Regaleira was constructed between 1904 and 1919, and the property was that of the Viscondessa da Regaleira. It was bought by Ant\u00f3nio Augusto Carvalho Monteiro, and he built house and garden together in the Italian style. Sculptors, masons and other artisans were called in to do the work, and it looks handmade. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The garden of Quinta da Regaleira<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The garden On the property is Much like a large park, it has paths that go by fountains, nice views and grottoes. You can walk uphill to the well, and you will find a wonderland that you will not believe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/04\/blick-in-den-brunnen.jpg\" alt=\"Brunnen in Quinta da Regaleira\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can only see the well shaft from up top, and you can go uphill more to the underground area. There is a spiral staircase that goes to the bottom of the well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/04\/wendeltreppe.jpg\" alt=\"Wendeltreppe Quinta da Regaleira\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It is really deep, and it will take you all the way to the bottom. The stairs are narrow, and they are all different heights. You can skip the steps if you are uncomfortable, and you will find a side entrance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/04\/blick-aus-dem-brunnen.jpg\" alt=\"The Quinta da Regaleira: An Impressive Building In Sintra\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>You can go down all 27 meters of the well, and you will not have to climb out the other side. You will find there is a underground path that will take you back to the light of day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It is nice to walk through the gardens of the Quinta back tot he main house, and you will find that there is a side building that will welcome you. You go through many parts of the garden and a small lake to see this castle building. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The castle was the summer home of the Carvalho Monteiro family, and you can tour it if you want. The entrance is small, and you can pass through into the rooms fo the palace that the family lived in. You will see the terraces and balconies of the home, and they will take you back to another time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/04\/brunnen.jpg\" alt=\"The Quinta da Regaleira: An Impressive Building In Sintra\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We enjoyed going to the Quinta da Regaleira, and we were transported to another time. It made us feel good to be in a place that was so beautiful, and we believe that it was worth the wait. We would tell anyone to go there, and it was much easier to move around than the Pena Palace, but we would still tell someone to go there, as well.
