We chose Faro as the main destination, but on the way back we spontaneously stopped off at Loul\u00e9. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Faro is the administrative centre of the Algarve and the largest city in the region. The port of the city is protected by a lagoon, which today is a national park. Faro is one of the most famous cities in Portugal. Impressive fortress walls from the 13th century can be found here, from which you have a superb view of the roofs of the city. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" src=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/07\/markthallen.jpg\" alt=\"Markthallen Faro\" class=\"wp-image-9691\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/07\/markthallen.jpg 800w, https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/07\/markthallen-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/fromplacetoplace.travel\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2017\/07\/markthallen-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>\n\nWe were especially impressed by the market hall. Built in Moorish inspired style it has become a landmark of the city. It is fun to discover regional food and to taste some of the typical sweets.\n\nA long and wonderful day of exploring!
