Freudenstadt in the Black Forest
In the centre of the northern Black Forest lies the beautiful town of Freudenstadt. A holiday in Freudenstadt in the Black Forest offers relaxation under healing climatic conditions.
Freudenstadt in the Black Forest was laid out by Duke Friedrich I in the early 17th century. The town is a planned town and a square marketplace with surrounding streets was created. The layout resembles a mill race. Unfortunately, numerous bombing raids destroyed large areas of the town. Today’s townscape is a reconstruction based on the historical townscape.
The heart of Freudenstadt is the imposing market square, which forms a lively center with its arcades, numerous cafés, restaurants and stores. As the largest market square in Germany, it is not only architecturally impressive, but also a place where history comes alive. Here you can stroll through the small boutiques, buy regional products or watch the hustle and bustle over a coffee.
Another highlight is the Protestant town church, which impresses with its unusual angular design and carillon. The historic architecture and pleasant atmosphere make the market square the perfect place to start your exploration tour.
Freudenstadt is located right at the gateway to the Black Forest and is an ideal starting point for hikes, bike tours and outdoor adventures. Here you will find one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Germany, with dense forests, clear streams and idyllic panoramas.
The Freudenstadt region is a paradise for gourmets. Here you can enjoy typical Black Forest specialties such as Black Forest gateau, roast beef or homemade spaetzle. Many restaurants and inns place particular emphasis on regional and seasonal ingredients, so you can literally taste the flavors of the Black Forest. Try a glass of Black Forest kirsch or local wine to round off your culinary experience.
Holidays in Freudenstadt in the Black Forest – Excursion tips
A trip to the Black Forest and clichés like cuckoo clocks and Black Forest cake immediately come to mind. I really wanted to take a closer look at one of the clichés during our stay in Freudenstadt. What luck that the Black Forest Cake Seminar exists!
During our first stay in the Black Forest, we were drawn to Freudenstadt. Still completely unknown to us, Freudenstadt has been a traditional holiday resort for many years and is also known as a recognised climatic health resort and spa. We were excited to see what we would discover and experience here.
On our programme during the blogger trip to the Black Forest is a visit to the Hotel Waldlust. At first I was a bit irritated - why should I visit a hotel where we are not staying? So I did a little surfing on the internet and it was clear why this place was on…
I have never been in a real silver and copper ore mine. In the Black Forest there is the Freudenstadt visitor mine, which we were allowed to visit.
