Lessing City of Wolfenbüttel

The Lessing town of Wolfenbüttel is located on the River Oker in Lower Saxony. In contrast to larger cities, Wolfenbüttel offers a relaxed and authentic atmosphere. Here you can enjoy the beauty of the town in peace and quiet without being overrun by crowds of tourists. It is the perfect place to get away from it all and recharge your batteries.

While many towns were destroyed in the Second World War, Wolfenbüttel remained virtually unscathed. Over 600 lovingly preserved half-timbered houses give the old town an incomparable charm. Here you feel as if you have been transported back in time – perfect for a romantic stroll or a relaxed stroll through the town.

But it’s not just half-timbered houses that make the town so appealing. On a tour of the old town, you will also discover secular buildings in the Renaissance style, a castle and other sights such as an impressive main church.

Wolfenbüttel

Fancy a herbal schnapps? Wolfenbüttel is the home of the world-famous herbal liqueur Jägermeister? Here you can learn more about the history and production of this cult drink and perhaps even enjoy a sip.

Or would you prefer some culture? For culture and literature fans, the Herzog August Library is an absolute must. This world-renowned library, which was referred to as the “8th wonder of the world” back in the 18th century, is home to priceless book treasures. Several places in the city today commemorate the 11 years that Lessing lived here. A visit to the Lessing town of Wolfenbüttel will tell you more about this period.
