Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena

The hotels of the Maritim Hotel Group promise a relaxing time out with lots of comfort everywhere in the world. This is of course also true at the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena, where I spent a wonderful time for a few days.

The entrance of the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue in Albena features a modern white facade with a distinctive geometric lattice design above a glass canopy and a curved driveway in the foreground.

In the heart of the resort of Albena on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast, directly on the beautiful white sandy beach, lies the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena. The elegant and very child-friendly 5-star hotel was a real oasis of well-being for me in all hotel areas. Whether in the restaurant, in the spa, at the pool or in the hotel room – I simply felt at home.

A paved walkway leads toward the modern white entrance of the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena, featuring multiple balconies with glass railings under a clear blue sky.

Welcome to Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena

With the shuttle I arrived directly from the airport in Varna to the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena. Hardly got out and not even taken the suitcase from the trunk, I was already warmly welcomed and accompanied to the reception.

The hotel reception is located in a bright and very spacious lobby with numerous comfortable seating areas. On the tables of the reception were large plates with fresh strawberries. Later I learned that the strawberries are grown by the Albena Resort, they tasted just wonderful.

With the elevator it went then to the 8th floor in my room.

Executive room with sea view

Executive rooms with sea view are available only on the top two floors of the hotel. This room category offers a room of about 28 m² with a large bathroom. I even had the choice between bathtub and shower. A dream for me, as I enjoy too much a relaxing bath during my travels.

A modern hotel room at the Albena Maritim features a neatly made bed with white linens, striped accent pillows, and dark grey cushions set against a cream-colored headboard. Above the bed, a large interior window with blinds looks into another room, flanked by sleek reading lamps and minimalist white walls.

The bed, in my case two single beds put together, was wonderfully comfortable. Very good I found the possibility to tell the service staff that the bed linen does not need to be changed daily. The bed was made, the bed linen remained the “old”. In terms of sustainability for me an important step to reduce the mountains of laundry in a hotel business.

In the room, I could use the sofa for a short break or step out onto the balcony and enjoy the view from there. The pool area of the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena is impressive and the sea is only a few steps away.

A high-angle view from the Albena Maritim hotel overlooks a sandy beach with rows of umbrellas and a resort pool area featuring a colorful water park for children.

Always good to know:
The free Wi-Fi worked flawlessly and a small laptop fits in the safe without any problems.

My stay in the hotel room was quite short. An exploration tour of the hotel grounds was tempting.

Beach and pool – how cool!

From the hotel lobby I reached the large pool area. The highlight for every child is certainly the large water play area. Here you get wet from all sides – a wonderful fun! It was a little quieter in the large deeper unheated pool. Still early in the year, the water was quite fresh, but in the course of my time on site dared more and more guests in the cool water.

A wide, clear blue swimming pool at the Maritim Hotel in Albena features a white arched bridge, submerged tiled lounge chairs, and a large white resort building with balconies in the background.

Around the pool are numerous sun loungers and umbrellas. I walked by at different times and there was always a free spot for sunbathing.

Coming from the pool area, you cross the beach promenade and are already on the beautiful white sandy beach of Albena. Sunbeds are lined up everywhere and colorful umbrellas give the beach a varied look. But attention! Not every sunbed may be used by every guest. The hotels in Albena have their own beach sections with their own sunbeds and umbrellas. The areas are signposted on the promenade.

A large, white, modern Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena building with tiered balconies overlooks a sandy beach lined with white umbrellas and lounge chairs under a clear blue sky.

On the beach section of the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena, every hotel room is provided with two sunbeds and a parasol free of charge from the 3rd row. If you want to use more sunbeds or lie in the first or second row directly at the sea, you have to pay for it.

I find it very nice that the sunbeds are not set up too close to each other and wide beach sections are available without any sunbeds at all. There is enough space for every vacationer.

I even went for a short swim in the sea one afternoon. The shore slopes only slightly and you have to walk out a bit to be completely in the water. Even though the water was still fresh at the end of May – it was so nice to swim in the Black Sea.

Hotel restaurants

The Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena offers the possibility to take breakfast and dinner in the large buffet restaurant Blue Essential as part of half board.

When I entered the restaurant at 7:30 am, the first tables were already occupied. Coffee is brought to the table here, but only “by the cup”. For a morning coffee drinker, I would have liked to see the coffee pot at the table. So the coffee level remained rather low. The breakfast buffet, on the other hand, left nothing to be desired. Fresh fruit , vegetables and cereals are for me the most important thing in the morning (besides coffee). Who prefers egg, bacon, bread or the like, will start the day in any case just as satisfied.

A breakfast spread at the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena features a plate of fresh fruit, including grapes, orange slices, and grapefruit, alongside a bowl of yogurt topped with chopped apples and grapes.

In the evening, a changing buffet offer is presented in the restaurant. My personal highlight was the selection of fish dishes (the squid was so good) and the extensive range of desserts. I would not have needed more.

In the mood for a la carte dining? Here, the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena offers the opportunity to dine in a wonderful restaurant. The Montgolfier restaurant is open daily, starting as early as lunchtime. I ate there on my last day before going to the airport and I liked it.

This upscale a la carte restaurant at the Maritim Hotel in Albena features a modern dining room with striking, tree-like wooden columns that fan out across the ceiling. Elegant round tables are set with white linens and blue upholstered chairs, all arranged on a patterned carpet under bright, natural light from large windows.

There is one more point that I find worth mentioning: In Albena, a large part of the food needed for the hotel guests is produced by the hotel itself. Most of the fruit and vegetables come from the hotel’s own fields, and the hotel even keeps its own herds of cattle to cover its meat requirements. I think this is a great concept, as it is much more sustainable to avoid long transport routes.

Visit to Senses SPA & Wellness Center

Relaxation for the body I could enjoy in the Senses SPA & Wellness Center on the 4th floor of the hotel. Here, in addition to the fitness room, there is also a heated indoor pool, sauna and steam bath.

The fitness center at the Maritim Hotel in Albena features modern exercise equipment, including stationary bikes and elliptical machines, positioned in front of floor-to-ceiling windows with views of lush green trees.

I first tested the salt room with halotherapy. Here, an extremely salty air is blown into a small pleasantly lit room with the help of a machine. While daydreaming on a couch, I breathed in the air. The detoxifying effect of the salt-rich air can relieve the symptoms of various respiratory diseases and skin conditions. However, one should not stay in this room for too long. Due to the high concentration of salt, the nasal mucous membranes dry out faster. After about 25 minutes, I realized that it was now enough for my nose.

The Albena SensesSPA salt room features glowing pink Himalayan salt brick walls, three ergonomic white lounge chairs, and a matching illuminated salt pedestal under a soft purple and blue light.

In the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena, the guest can also be pampered with various wellness offers in the wellness center. I enjoyed a 50-minute full-body massage, which was so relaxing that it felt like it was over after only 5 minutes. How quickly time passes when you feel good! I can definitely recommend the massage, my little tensions were gone afterwards!

If you prefer to be pampered with a facial treatment, you will certainly find something suitable in the extensive offer. It is worked with recognized and good care products and afterwards the skin feels 10 years younger.

A collection of Anne Semonin skincare products, including toners, serums in dropper bottles, and tubes of cream, are neatly arranged on a reflective tray at the Maritim Hotel in Albena.

The use of the Senses SPA & Wellness Center is not free for all offers, but the price-performance ratio is more than justified.

Good to know

What kind of luxury rooms are available?

The hotel has 238 rooms on 9 floors in different price and equipment categories.
If you have always wanted to stay in a room with your own pool, you can book the Deluxe Swim-up Pool Room on the first floor. There are a total of 6 rooms that share a pool (depth 160 cm) and 8 rooms that each have their own pool (depth 140 cm). Each room has a terrace and faces the sea. Due to the vegetation around the hotel, the view to the sea is limited.

Another type of room, which promises a lot of luxury, is located on the 8th and 9th floor of the hotel. The executive apartments have a separate bedroom, two bathrooms and a living area. In addition, there is a small kitchen area with a kitchenette. The balcony is very spacious, equipped with its own sun loungers and has a fantastic view of the sea.

If you stay in this room type or in another executive room on the 8th or 9th floor, you have the possibility to use the VIP lounge of the hotel. This is located on the 8th floor of the Maritim Hotel Paradise Blue Albena and offers space for about 30 guests. Here the guest can have breakfast, dinner or simply enjoy the peace and quiet on the roof terrace after prior reservation.

There is a possibility to rent bicycles for a fee.
