Very close to Anklam, on the southern bank of the Peene River, lies the small village of Liepen. The federal road 110 leads the visitors of Vorpommern through this small place.
Already at the entrance to the village, a really successful wall design draws attention to the region. In Liepen there is a village church and the small house of the volunteer fire department – yes, and the Liepen estate, where I was able to spend a quiet and restful night.
The estate from 1907 has been expanded piece by piece since 2009 and now offers 35 rooms, 3 vacation apartments, a restaurant and a spacious wellness area.
Tour of Liepen Manor
If you drive through the small driveway onto the grounds of the manor house, a generously designed complex opens up in front of you, consisting of several houses and green areas and forming the overall ensemble of the hotel & restaurant “Am Peenetal”.
The restaurant building offers a regionally oriented restaurant on the first floor with 75 seats, an outdoor area and beer garden. The kitchen processes products from the own garden, the own game preserve and from suppliers from the region.
On the upper floor there are single and double rooms and apartments for 4 persons.
Here in the so-called hall building is the reception of the entire facility. In the former bull stables a banquet hall has been created, which is suitable for celebrations for up to 160 guests. Our own modern kitchen enables individual catering for events.
Also in this building, on the upper floor, there are some rooms of different sizes for the overnight guests.
Do not forget to visit the small farm store, which offers a colorful range of regional products.
The manor house
I stayed in the manor house during my stay. One enters the house and first arrives in a cozy entrance hall, where a fireplace and comfortable armchairs invite one to linger in the cool season. I was particularly impressed by the large library with a wide range of books and comfortable armchairs. Here I could snuggle up for hours in one of the armchairs and sink into an exciting book.
There is a staircase (there is also an elevator) to get to the upper floors. I stayed in a nice big double room. I slept wonderfully here!
In the basement of the manor house and an attached newer annex is the wellness, sauna and fitness area of the Liepen Manor. Several saunas, indoor and outdoor pools and the wellness offers invite not only the guests of the hotel, but also, on request, visitors of the region to a relaxing day.
Manor park – recreation and fun
As I set out on a short tour of the property’s grounds, the first thing that catches my eye are the parking spaces for guests’ cars. All carports are equipped with photovoltaic systems. This is where part of the electricity needed for the Liepen estate is generated.
Right next to it is a great designed mini golf course. No standardized courses are offered here. Each course has a theme from the Peene Valley, for example the Quilow moated castle. There is outdoor fitness equipment between the holes, and there are also plenty of opportunities for children to play.
On shady paths you can take a short walk in the manor park and will quickly come to a large garden with greenhouses. What all grows here! In addition to herbs about various varieties of tomatoes and pumpkins, I have also discovered unusual plants such as ice cabbage salad.
Everything that grows here is freely processed according to the motto “we cook what we sow” by the chefs in the restaurant, sold in the farm store or even used to feed their own animals. Of course I could not pass the raspberry bushes without tasting and so it will certainly happen to some guests.
