You have to look very carefully on the map until you discover the small place Lexow. Idyllically nestled between meadows and fields, very close to Lake Plauer See and Müritz lies the manor house Lexow – an ideal place to spend a relaxing dream vacation.
About Lexow manor house
In 1874, the manor house was built and for many years belonged to the landed property of the Dobbertin monastery. Here lives no lord of the manor, who wanted to define himself by a representative building, here was the estate management and the associated tasks in the foreground. Originally there were several farm buildings and stables, but they are no longer all present.
In 1945, the former tenant was expropriated. Initially, displaced persons lived in the manor house Lexow, later it was the center of village life. Thus, among others, the mayor, a doctor, the hairdresser and a grocery store used the property.
After the reunification, the estate was sold. Unfortunately, the buyer did not use the manor house and it deteriorated more and more.
In 2007 Patrick Oldendorf and Bettina Buschow bought the listed property and with a lot of work brought it back to life.
Yes, and work has really gone into the conversion. For example, the original slate roof was restored and a master carpenter from the area was able to “save” the windows. He had the knowledge and tools from days gone by and faithfully rebuilt the old windows into the still preserved window frames. An attempt was made to use existing materials as much as possible and to continue to use them in as environmentally friendly a manner as possible. This is also evident in the furnishing of the guest accommodations. The used furniture comes from different places of discovery, was refurbished and skillfully combined, so that one simply has to feel comfortable!
Vacation in Lexow manor house
The manor house Lexow offers the vacationer different sized vacation apartments and Bed & Breakfast rooms in three buildings.
The kitchen house
Our accommodation was in the former kitchen house, which is directly adjacent to the main house.
Here are four double rooms and two small apartments. A special room is the Honeymoon Suite with free-standing bathtub.
I stayed two nights in the apartment Rosenow and really felt very comfortable. The apartment has a sheep room, a bathroom and a living room with open kitchen.
In the bedroom there is a four-poster bed for 2 people, there is direct access from here to a large terrace and the garden. In the living room there is a fireplace, which invites you to cozy evenings by the fire. The kitchen is really excellently equipped for a vacation apartment, I really discovered everything that I also have at home in the kitchen. The large table for 6 people just invites you to eat here comfortably with family or friends and to organize joint game evenings.
I think the idea is really great to offer smaller separate living units in the kitchen house. For example, you can arrive with several people, sit together on the terrace or cook together and still spend the night separately.
Wheelwright’s workshop
The former wheelwright’s workshop has also been developed for guests. Here are also Bed & Breakfast rooms and additionally a large apartment for 8 people.
We were able to take a look at this apartment and I was really excited. On 170 m² there are 4 bedrooms, several bathrooms and my absolute highlight a beautiful large open living area. Here I could imagine spending a great vacation with loved ones.
The main house
In the main house there are accommodation units for four to eight people and the small café. Here, breakfast is lovingly prepared in the morning. For Bed & Breakfast guests this is already included in the price, all other guests could use the rich offer for an additional charge. I was particularly pleased that many regional products were on the table. In the afternoon you can eat here very well freshly baked cake and dinner. The room is also used as a seminar and event room. We were lucky enough to experience a small film screening there, where not only overnight guests were present
