Hotel-Restaurant Domschenke in Billerbeck

From Münster it takes about 30 minutes by train to Billerbeck. We get off at the station and walk about 10 minutes to the Hotel Domschenke. Here we were allowed to stay two nights and explore a small part of the Münsterland.

The Domschenke is located directly at the Ludgerus Cathedral, an imposing church building, which I present in the article “Billerbeck in Münsterland”. The half-timbered house is in the fifth generation in the hands of the Groll family.

In total, the hotel has six single and twenty-three double rooms of different sizes, accessible only by stairs.

Rooms in Hotel Domschenke

Our room was not in the main house, but in a building complex directly behind it. Through a small corridor between two houses you are there quickly.

In this part of the building is also the small bike room of the house. Here you can store your bike free of charge and also charge the batteries of the ebikes. The bike room was very well filled during our stay. In the morning you had to play a little “Tetris” to get your own bike out. But rather the bike in a small locked room than that it is unprotected in front of the hotel.

Through a small entrance we then reached our room, which was above the storage room for the bikes. The room is functionally furnished, was bright and friendly. A big plus is the small balcony, which invites you to end the evening quietly.

The bathroom of our hotel room was very large and modern, almost like freshly renovated.
The free wifi in our room during our stay was flawless, fast and we could work well.

Hotel Domschenke Restaurant

For us, the evening visit to the restaurant was a real highlight of the day. Here, the chef Frank Groll cooks a Mediterranean-inspired creative cuisine. In a cozy atmosphere, we were able to enjoy an excellent meal here.

Gastraum im Restaurant in Billerbeck

On the first evening, after a chanterelle soup, we enjoyed an excellent roulade of venison with homemade spaetzle. I haven’t eaten such tender meat in a long time. The conclusion was an excellent strawberry tiramisu.

On the second evening, after a very good potato soup, we were delighted with Töttchen with potatoes and salad. For dessert we had homemade plum compote and poppy ice cream. Also this evening we went to bed full and happy. What a feast for the palate! All the dishes we ate were excellently prepared and flavorful to the finest.
