Not far from Berlin, in the Brandenburg district of Potsdam-Mittelmark, lies the small town of Caputh on Lake Schielow and Lake Templin. Cyclists, hikers and excursionists are drawn to the region and Caputh is a great place for a relaxing stopover.

On the way to Bernau we passed through the district of Börnicke. Here, right next to the Börnicke Castle manor house, is the brewery of the Bernauer Brauereigenossenschaft, which brews the excellent Bernauer beer.

In the district of Charlottenburg stands one of the most beautiful palaces in Berlin. We took a little walk around the palace and enjoyed the beautiful weather in the palace park.
Castle tour in Weißenfels: Neu-Augustusburg Castle
Steeply uphill, the Schlossgasse takes us to Neu-Augustusburg Castle in Weißenfels. Once we reach the top, we first stand on the castle forecourt. Here stands a Prussian latrine building. There are said to be only three buildings of this kind left in Germany, unfortunately it is locked. It would certainly be interesting to take a look inside.
