City trip to Hanover

Hanover, the capital of Lower Saxony, lies on the River Leine and the Mittelland Canal. A city break to Hanover takes you to a city where there are still a few destinations off the beaten track.

For outsiders, the city often has a rather boring image and a city break to Hanover tends to be laughed at – quite wrongly, because the city has a lot to offer.

Hanover is a green city. Numerous parks, gardens and the large Maschsee recreational area invite you to relax.

Hannover Adventure Zoo is undeniably one of the most popular destinations for leisure excursions. It is one of the most popular sights in Hanover.

Those who prefer cultural excursions will find some very interesting museums in Hanover. For example, the Lower Saxony State Museum in Hanover. There are 5 collections on display here: the State Gallery, the Archaeology Department, the Natural History Department, the Ethnological Collection and the Coin Cabinet. and is on the trail of history in the Herrenhausen Gardens. The Sprengel Museum in Hanover is one of the most important museums of 20th and 21st century art.

Hannover

The city has many architecturally remarkable buildings and sights that regularly attract visitors. The New Town Hall is a landmark of the city and a popular photo motif. It looks like a castle with its magnificent decorations and towers. It is even one of the 80 most popular destinations in Germany for foreign tourists.

The city’s stages and theaters offer a wide range of different productions, so everyone will find something to suit their taste.

Hanover is also a trade fair city. Many interesting trade fairs and exhibitions are held here every year, attracting an international audience.

Typical Hanoverian delicacies include hearty dishes such as Calenberger Pfannenschlag or Hannoversches Zungenragout. Equally popular are fine asparagus from the fields around Burgdorf and fine eel from the Steinhuder Meer. The succulent Gerster bread from Hanover’s artisan bakers and the tasty beer from the larger and smaller breweries in the capital of Lower Saxony are a treat for every day.
