Exploring Athens by public transport is not difficult and quite inexpensive. We walked a lot for short distances, but for longer distances, taking the bus and metro in Athens is just ideal!

Kapsia Cave – the stalactite cave Kapsia
I step up to an inconspicuous steel door in the middle of a mountain wall. The door is opened and now we enter a short brightly lit corridor, which is closed again with a steel door at the end. Only when the entrance door is closed, we are allowed to enter the underground world of Kapsia Cave.

Traditional fishing in Kalamata – out to sea by boat
The sun has already risen, but it did not really want to warm when we arrived at the port of Kalamata. The wind was blowing moderately and so we hoped that the sea would remain calm. It went out by boat to learn about traditional fishing in Kalamata.

Green oasis in the middle of Athens: Pedion tou Areos Park
Nothing is nicer than enjoying some relaxation in one of Athens’ green oases after a stroll past the city’s numerous archaeological sites. We were drawn to Pedion Areos Park, one of the largest public parks in Athens.
