Waren an der Müritz attracts many visitors and offers a wide variety of culinary restaurants. We went to the Leddermann restaurant and ate there in the evening.
Restaurant Leddermann is located directly at the town harbour of Waren on the edge of the historic old town. In 2017, owner Carsten Leddermann’s restaurant moved into the rooms in a new building. The chef designed his rooms to be modern and colour-coordinated. From the wall colour to the leather chair at the table, everything harmonises with each other, a place to feel good.
In good weather, you can sit outside (seating for about 60 people) and watch the hustle and bustle in the harbour. In the evening, we sat in the restaurant (about 54 seats) at the large window front. Unfortunately, it was already too dark to see the life in the harbour.
As soon as we order, we notice that, unlike many other restaurants in the region, typical Mecklenburg dishes are not on the menu. When reading the menu, the dishes sound very fresh and modern with a touch of internationality. This is certainly due to the fact that Carsten Leddermann has not only worked in Berlin and England in his professional career, but has also cooked on a cruise ship and gained a lot of experience.
Burger Leddermann
We ordered the “Leddermann Burger” with fries. A Black Angus burger with cheddar cheese is served in a rustic bun. The burger is seasoned with a tasty plum relish, onions, pickles and jalapeno mayonnaise. A burger with “oomph”, outstanding taste, super tasty and anything but a “one size fits all” burger. I thought it was really good and the price of €16.90 was more than justified.
After the meal, we had the opportunity to speak briefly with the chef. We learned that many of the products used in the restaurant come directly from the region. For example, they offer game that was hunted in the region and fish from the Baltic Sea. It is important to Carsten Leddermann not only to present holidaymakers with a taste experience, but also to offer Mecklenburgers something that will make them want to come back.
We enjoyed it.
