Around General-Pape-Strasse, you can discover the former military site at 14 stations with the help of the history trail. Two stations are particularly impressive – the heavy load body and the SA-Memorial Site SA Prison Papestraße.
In the Zittau Mountains in Saxony lies the small town of Oybin. Above the village rises the Oybin, a 514 meter high mountain and on it are the ruins of Oybin Castle. A place that is interesting not only for fans of castles, but has written a piece of history.
Not too much longer there will be the Gaslamp Open Air in Berlin that you can discover for free. But you can still see some of the old street lighting in the Großer Tiergarten.
Dusk is slowly falling over Münster and we are already excitedly walking back and forth in front of the Lamberti Church. Around 8:30 pm, the Türmerin begins her ascent into the tower of the church and we are allowed to accompany her.

Görlitz is associated with film like hardly any other city. Famous Hollywood actors and filmmakers come to the film city of Görlitz. It is not for nothing that the city is also called “Görliwood”.
Just over 10 hectares in size, Lietzenseepark in Charlottenburg is located very close to the exhibition grounds. It is bordered to the north by Kaiserdamm, to the west by the Ringbahn, to the south by the Stadtbahn and to the east by Suarzstrasse.
When the lush green of the trees gives a view into the undergrowth, the hike to the cemetery railroad is especially worthwhile. Now you can discover the old tracks, forgotten stairs and unused bridges especially well.

The Reichenbach Tower in Görlitz is one of the five towers that can be visited regularly in the city. It stands opposite the Kaisertrutz and is part of the Museum of Cultural History, where you can also get tickets.

Not far from Berlin, in the Brandenburg district of Potsdam-Mittelmark, lies the small town of Caputh on Lake Schielow and Lake Templin. Cyclists, hikers and excursionists are drawn to the region and Caputh is a great place for a relaxing stopover.
Albstadt is located in the Swabian Alb in Baden-Württemberg. A city tour of Albstadt is not so easy, because the city area consists of various districts, some of which are quite far apart.
Görlitz was once surrounded by a double ring of city walls. The Nikolaizwinger is a preserved remnant of the defences around the city.

Wedding is the former working-class district of Berlin. One automatically associates this with gray and dreary tenements and with little greenery. But if you look closely, you will be surprised, because Wedding offers its residents beautiful parks, such as the Schillerpark, which are visited today not only by the Weddingern with pleasure.

Görlitz not only has a beautiful old town, but also two geographical features to offer. And quite honestly – I wouldn’t have known it!
For many years I drove past a sign on Heerstrasse almost every day that drew attention to the Georg Kolbe Museum. Again and again I have resolved to take a look at the museum and now I realize I have missed something.
From Münster it takes about 30 minutes by train to Billerbeck. We get off at the station and walk about 10 minutes to the Hotel Domschenke. Here we were allowed to stay two nights and explore a small part of the Münsterland.

Between Bad Wildbad and Enzklösterle, the Kaltenbronner Straße leads uphill to the Hotel Sarbacher, which is nestled between the slopes of the Northern Black Forest.
Görlitz beer from the Landskron Brau-Manufaktur (Brewery Manufactory) – we went on a journey of discovery through the brewery and, of course, tasted lots of beer.
The Soviet Memorial in Schönholzer Heide is rather unknown, but I find it no less impressive than the memorials in Treptow and at the Brandenburg Gate.
A tip brought the memorial to my attention, so we went to Pankow to discover it.
One of the largest reservoirs in Europe is located in northern Hesse in the middle of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park. Nestled between rolling hills, the vacationer can discover a unique landscape.
The premium hiking trail Traufgang Hossinger Leiter is one of the most popular hiking trails in the area of the Swabian Alb. We were almost magically attracted by the circular hiking trail of 8.7 kilometers and in pleasant autumnal weather we set out on the hike “Traufgang Hossinger Leiter”.
In Görlitz you can find some remains of the historic city fortifications. We were particularly interested in the towers and so we explored the “Dicken Turm” during our tower tour.

The Brandenburg Beer Road took us near Caputh in the district of Potsdam-Mittelmark. Here, in the Forsthaus Templin, is the brewery, a certified organic brewery.
The impressive suspension bridge in the Harz Mountains at the Rappbode Dam has become one of the tourist highlights in recent years. Rightly so, I think, because a visit there is really impressive.

About 4 million people left the GDR between 1949 and 1990. 1.35 million arrived at the Marienfelde refugee camp. This is where their journey out of the GDR ended and their journey into a new life began.

About 32 kilometers northeast of Nuremberg, in Hersbrucker Schweiz, lies the community of Vorra. From here you can make beautiful discovery tours in the Nuremberg countryside.
I love the TV pictures of the Brocken, when you see the storm sweeping over the mountain top and people trying to move forward. For that reason alone, it was clear to me relatively quickly that if I’m in the Harz, I have to go to the Brocken.
Berlin-Nikolassee, directly on the Krummes Fenn landscape conservation area lies the Düppel Museum Village. Here, visitors can experience life as it was in the region in the Middle Ages.

If you walk through Miltenberg, the Mildenburg castle high above the town immediately catches your eye. Even if the way up is steep, it is worth visiting the castle complex.
If you would like to visit a museum in Hamm in North Rhine-Westphalia, the Gustav Lübcke Museum is the place to go. The museum of cultural history is located near the main train station and shows, in addition to its permanent exhibition, always changing temporary exhibitions.
A city walk is a wonderful way to discover the sights in Frankfurt (Oder). We present some of the most interesting and beautiful places here.
For me, Baumkuchen is one of the most delicious cakes when it is fresh. The fact that I was able to eat this speciality in the Harzer Baumkuchenhaus in Wernigerode was a real surprise for me.

On the way to Bernau we passed through the district of Börnicke. Here, right next to the Börnicke Castle manor house, is the brewery of the Bernauer Brauereigenossenschaft, which brews the excellent Bernauer beer.

At the market of Osnabrück is probably the most important building of the city, the city hall Osnabrück. Close to it stands the current registry office (former scales house) and St. Mary’s Church.
Zeitz has a really interesting industrial culture that you should definitely discover. We took a look around the former Herrmannschacht briquette factory. A really exciting excursion to the oldest preserved briquette factory of the first generation!

I’m standing in Berlin’s Hansaviertel at the Grips Theatre, eagerly waiting for the art:berlin tour to begin. For the next two hours, we will be criss-crossing an area that was created during the Interbau 1957.
My special tip in the Churfranken region is to visit the Häckerwirtschaft and enjoy wine directly from the vintner.
If you want to cook for yourself on Wangerooge, not just in your holiday flat, or not just try the food in your own hotel, you will find some nice restaurants and cafés to eat in on Wangerooge.
In the heart of Frankfurt (Oder) stands the former main parish church St.Marien. With its glass bible, it is considered a landmark of the city and is now used as a socio-cultural centre.
In the south of Saxony-Anhalt in the Burgenlandkreis district only about 25 kilometres north of Gera lies the city of Zeitz. We spent a day in the city and discovered a lot. Follow us on a little tour through Zeitz.
Charlottenburg, Charlottengrad … I was allowed to take part in a guided tour that focused on Charlottengrad in the 1920s and introduced me to a completely unknown “scene” in Berlin.
