The beer town of Radeberg is located northeast of Dresden. It is the centre of the Radeberg region and the ideal starting point for interesting excursions into the region.
Radeberg has become known mainly for the large brewery located there, which produced the first beer brewed in Germany using the Pilsner brewing method. In the town you can walk the Beer Town Trail, enjoy the Beer Theatre, visit the brewery and of course enjoy freshly tapped beer.
But there is much more to discover. Around the town you can hike along the Große Röder and the Schwarze Röder, Klippenstein Castle invites you to an interesting visit and the Radeberg distillation and liqueur factory will spoil your palate.
Excursion tips in and around the beer town of Radeberg
A city tour and relaxation are two sides of the same coin in Radeberg. We went out to explore the City of Beer Path (Bierstadtpfad) and the Planet Path (Planetenwanderweg).
A trip to Radeberg and a visit to the brewery just belong together. As part of our research trip to Radeberg, we, too, visited the Export Beer Brewery Radeberg.
The Hotel Kaiserhof at the edge of Radeberg’s Old Town is somewhat of a central hub. We were invited to spend a relaxing night there. But not before we had a refresher session for our „language skills“ in the Beer Theatre.
Whenever I heard „Radeberg, “ I thought of beer. As it turned that was a big mistake, there is so much more to it than that. For example the Castle Klippenstein.
Travel information about Radeberg
Arrival
By plane
Dresden Airport is the nearest major international airport in the region. It is located just over 15 kilometres from Radeberg.
From the airport, the best connection to the city is by taxi or car. This takes about 20 minutes. The journey by public transport is a little more complicated and takes you via Dresden and from there on to Radeberg by regional train. Here the journey time is about 45 minutes.
By train
Radeberg is easy to reach by regional trains from Dresden and Upper Lusatia. There are connections several times an hour. Once a day there is a direct connection to Liberec in the Czech Republic.
The nearest long-distance railway station with an ICE connection is in Dresden.
By car
The A 4 and A 13 motorways offer good connections to the city.
