For a somewhat longer stay in Como, directly at Lake Como in Italy, we were looking for an apartment that was within walking distance to all our destinations. Once again we browsed Airbnb and found something suitable.
There are lots of different accommodations around Lake Como. At first, we were undecided which town at the lake to pick. The train connections were the deciding factor in the end. We came from Verona and the best connection was via Milan to Como and then back again to Milan in the end, our last destination. After we landed on Como we started the search:
Objective: An apartment with an extra bedroom, WiFi and at a sensible price point!
Outcome: A wonderful apartment in the heart of the pedestrian area in Como.
Admittedly, we lucked out with the price. The Airbnb owner, Anna, seemed to still have her winter season prices online. During the summer the price for the flat is almost 1/3 higher! But we were pleased with our bargain!
The apartment is located in Como, Via Vittorio Emanuele II, house 109, rear house, second floor.
The main entrance door leads you directly into a spacious living room with a super comfy couch. We used the dining table as our workstation and from the window, we had a lovely view of the small garden and the mountains. A dream!
The kitchen is fully equipped. We used the breakfast bar as an alternative dining table. The bathroom had a bathtub (that’s always a bonus for me as I only have a shower at home) and a washing machine that we used right away.
We had the extra bedroom that we wanted which was quiet and had a comfortable bed. There was no wardrobe but a clothes rail with plenty of hangers.
Sadly, our host was in the hospital when we arrived but sent a friend to welcome us. Thanks a lot!
Right after her hospital stay she came over to welcome us herself and to feed us homemade cake.
We got a quick brief about the apartment and the longer version with all the instructions in writing. After that, we spent the rest of the evening enjoying our welcome gift, a bottle of wine and aromatic bread.
The immediate surroundings of the apartment are the Old Town of Como with the pedestrian area. Many shops bait visitors with fashion but also a supermarket is close by.
A little tip: Do your shopping in the morning. That saves you from having to zig zack around groups of tourists. There’s a plethora of restaurants in the Old Town as well with mostly reasonable prices.
It was a lovely apartment and we do recommend it!
