You don’t always have to climb expensive lookout towers when in some places the topography allows you to find a natural viewpoint. Fortunately, in Verona you can find several points.
Here we introduce you to what we consider to be the most beautiful vantage point, which also allows you to visit a church.
Admittedly, those who are not good on foot should look for a lift, it goes up a mountain! But it’s really worth it.
We followed the road that slowly brought us closer to our destination. The destination the Santuario Madonna di Lourdes: a reconstruction of a pilgrimage church built on the site of an Austrian fortress.
Through a gate directly on the road, you then pass through a garden that belongs to the church. The path is lined with lovingly designed stones with ecclesiastical motifs. We were all alone here. The visitors, most of whom do not walk the path, apparently do not come here. They only got out at the car park, took photos and disappeared again. So if you are looking for some peace and quiet, you will find it in this garden.
The way up here was really worth it. It’s a gorgeous view over the city!
We spent quite a while up here and were lucky enough to listen to a wedding through the open church doors. Beautiful music turned this view into another lasting experience.
