Barcelona: Hotel Alimara

For an event with a team of international Joomla! programmers, the organizer chose the Hotel Alimara in Barcelona. Many of the participants had the opportunity to stay overnight in the hotel.

The 4-star hotel is located in the Horta district in the immediate vicinity of the Val Hebron hospital. There is a metro station almost directly in front of the door. This line takes you to the city center in about 20 minutes.

The reservation of rooms for the conference participants was only possible via the hotel website and proved to be quite cumbersome. The form provided did not mention that a Visa card was mandatory for the reservation. This resulted in repeated email contact until all the necessary figures were finally received in small steps, sometimes by email, sometimes by fax, and the reservation was finally confirmed. In conversation with other conference participants, it turned out that many people had had a similar experience. There is a clear need for improvement on the part of the hotel operator.

Hotel Alimara

But that was the only thing that was annoying before and during the visit.
The hotel has 154 modern rooms, all of which are equipped with air conditioning and heating. The bathroom was very clean and a good size. The room furnishings are simple and functional. In addition to a desk, there was also a safe, a minibar and a TV. The bed was just right for a good night’s sleep.

The hotel has 14 conference rooms for a total of 600 people. The hotel’s modern technology can be used in the soundproofed rooms. The conference organizers supported the hotel’s existing WLAN by installing their own WLAN network.

Hotel Alimara

A breakfast buffet is offered as standard at the Hotel Alimara. The offer was varied and vegetarians and diabetics were also catered for with additional options.
The hotel also offered lunch and dinner for the conference, which was well received by the conference participants.
The hotel bar was available for the evening hours.

The hotel was well chosen for the event. Due to its proximity to the city center, the Hotel Alimara is also well suited for visitors to the city
